This is an amazing shopping experience, there is nowhere quite like it. It may well be the most pleasant technology store in all Chicagoland if not all USA, and, while I acknowledge the wisdom of shopping in local brick and mortar stores, of course internet shoppers will argue the pros and cons. The only vendors any where, that can give you personal service, are in danger of not being around when you need them, with one or two notable exceptions. There is however one, that stands head and shoulders above all others and that is always going to be one with superb customer service. There's good customer service, great customer service and then there is Abt (ABT) where customer service is the stuff of legends. So what's it all about? well two years ago I bought a new, large, all in one computer, predominantly for travelling, Abt were the only local store with the model I liked, in spite of colleagues saying they're expensive, I found it no more than the second best at a big box store, what is more I have been more than happy with the Delll, until yesterday when I got an error message and couldn't log on to my e-mail. I called Dell tech support, but after almost 20 minutes of on hold and getting unsatisfactory information, I hung up, jumped in the car and drove to Abt. Abt is one of those places where nothing is hidden, the fee schedule is up on the wall in plain sight, so being a year out of warranty I had calculated I would be up for about $99 - $170 for service, not really out of line in the scheme of things. It took about 40 minutes to diagnose, run updates and fix the error. So when the machine was handed back to me I was ready to take care of the cost and that... was where the story ended. "You're good to go sir"! If you don't shop at Abt, you don't know customer service.

We apologize for the problems you experienced picking up your order. The ready for pickup email is sent when all of the items have been pulled from our warehouse. Customers shouldnt have to wait more than a few minutes after arriving. Employees in that department should have notified you asap there was an issue locating the merchandise. We appreciate you bringing this to our attention. We will be addressing this matter with all the parties involved to avoid this from happening in the future.

This is a great place and I love the store. The one thing that I find annoying is the customer pick for orders. I dont understand the purpose to telling a customer that an order is ready for pick up when I reality nothings gets out together for pick up until you arrive at the store. In the past year, all my orders have taken 20-30 to pick up after I arrive since they all had to be pulled from stock. My last order last week was a huge mess. Took over a day to get an email saying my order was ready for pick to just arrive and it take 25 minutes for part of my order to show up at the pick up area and another 20 minutes for 1 item to be tracked down in all areas of the store to just tell me that it is not in stock when I have an email telling me it was in stock and that it was ready for me to pick up. Dont live nearby and its annoying to waste my time.
