Brian, We are sorry to hear that you got the wrong impression from us. From the sounds of it all it seems that there was a miscommunication. I greeted you politely as we do with everyone that steps through our doors. As for our conversation, please allow me to clarify. We offered you our FREE trial and the chance to get comfortable with our gym as we do with all of our new students. I explained that it is important that everyone feels comfortable with the environment here before we even ask them to join. Furthermore your consultation with Mason was scheduled for tuesday the day after you showed up and he has never missed an appointment with a new student. Again we are sorry if there is some misunderstanding. Also you seem to think that we somehow manipulated google reviews to only show our good reviews. Google controls all its reviews and there is no way for businesses to delete the ones they don't like, otherwise everybody would have all 5 stars reviews, our reviews speak for themselves and you can ask any one of them.I will say that if you are a trained fighter you must know that the value of the gym goes way deeper than our staff able take your first call. In saying so, we would still like to extend our offer to you for our FREE TRIAL in hopes that you can really experience what our academy is really about. What can I say, with all the rave reviews I was hoping to have found a good gym. Ive trained in several martial arts and all I can say about this place is that the level of professionalism is incredibly low. I had to call twice just to get a consultation set up, which is new to me, no other gym has been so reluctant to take my money. To top it off, the consultant Mason never showed! I waited and waited and the head instructor Omar must have walkes by at least half a dozen times and didnt even muster a grunt when I said hello. I have a feeling some of their reviews are being removed. Hopefully this one doesnt. Take advice from an experienced fighter and dont spend your time or money here! There are better places in portland!

Ive been training Muay Thai at Mata Leao for a couple of months, and every day has been fantastic. The class is full of friendly people of various skill and fitness levels, making it approachable for anyone. The instructors are kind, observant, and helpful. Ive found a love for the art, sport, and community of Muay Thai here at Mata Leao, and Im here to stay!

"Got the bug" I've heard them say. Having found BJJ some 4 or 5 years ago, I can definitely say I get what that means whole hearted. I transferred gyms to Mata Leao Combat Sports half way through my training due to experiencing the caliber of advanced/technical gi jiu-jitsu here during an open mat session invitation. Not only are there several high ranking practitioners here in teaching positions, but almost all of them are far below my weight class. As a result, my getting "rag-dolled" on the mats has allowed me to experience true technical prowess. Professor Omar Santiago has worked very hard to make the gym feel not only like a place that is serious about training/competition but one that retains a "family" feel. Moreover, his contribution to creating a BJJ community is hallmarked by Mata Leao's open gym time to which an invitation to any local BJJ enthusiast has been made accessible.

Dluv! We are so sorry that you got inconvenienced like that. The week before, we switched over to a new CRM scheduling system, and only just discovered from your phone call that day, that the CRM we are running did not link up our calendars! This has never happened to us before. We did not mean to take up your time like that, it was an honest blip in the system. Wish I could have at been at the gym to help you! Please, take a month of free training on us, and a coupon for $50 in our program! We would love to see you on the mats :) **Also, just for clarification to anyone reading this, the gym is open seven days a week. We never close our school down. Only our consultant was out of town for two days and did not receive this person's inquiry for her free trial first visit, which got scheduled for 2pm on our off hours. Game on!!

Schedule an appointment took the day off traveled whole hour just to find out they are out of town. I had gotten a text message an hour before appointment for confirmation n no show
