First I understand the lack of birds due to needing to protect them from bird flu. The art sculptures made out of trash were less than appealing even with them being creative. The advertisements for the pigmy hippos coming were exciting but after seeing the rest of zoo I'm not so thrilled that they're bringing more animals to this zoo. They claim these hippos will be in a state of the art facility but it really seems that it's just a show, alot of the animals there are lethargic, tired looking, and generally unhappy. I may visit again, I may not but it definitely will be a while.
Went there with my sons kindergarten class for a field trip. Suggest eating before going, foods expensive and not very good. The ice cream shop by the petting zoo tho highly recommend tho. The birds are not there rn to be seen since there's a new strain of bird flu out. But other then that the zoo has decent, just feel like we didn't see tons of animals.
EAT BEFORE YOU GO. OR BRING YOUR OWN FOOD N DRINKS. People need to know the insane prices you're charging, for terrible food. 5/30/22. This zoo is under construction , so alot of the animal exhibits are shuttered with various random tools and ladders strewn about in them. Also due to avian flu there are NO BIRDS. About half the animals I came to see are now off the table, yet I paid 36 dollars dollars for tickets for my partner and I, and because we were both thirsty, we went immediately to the drink vending area closest to the entrance. There were sold 2 for 20 $ cups, and AFTER they took my money they said all they had was either water or lemonade. Not that I don't like water or lemonade, but PLEASE. Lead with that. Tell me your machine is broken or whatever. At this point I'm stressing it because I'm out about 60 dollars and have yet to see anything other than an apologetic teenager standing beside a broken pop dispenser. Thirst quenched, I headed into the zoo. There I found some animals. No birds.. avian flu concerns. Then came the monkey themed Cafe. Had yet to see any monkeys but I was hungry so I shook the dice and risked it. 10 minutes later I was sold 24 dollars worth of 1 hard hockey puck burger and 1 burned up hot dog. When I say burnt I mean literally. The hot dog was CHARRED black! I immediately sent it back. The rock hard HOURS OLD burger was accompanied by the nastiest oldest wilted lettuce and shriveled dry onions. As soon as I saw it there I took it an left it on the counter. I would hope the animals eat better than the quality you are serving your guests at an ultra premium price. Please train your staff In food handling safety as well. The kids in the Cafe were bare handed touching the ice cold fries they served. Tried buying a beer at the ONE adult beverage stand that was available. To my further disappointment there was yet another teenage year old there working alone. Upon questioning I found out he can't serve any of the beers there because he's not old enough. Wow. Thanks for nothing guys. BEYOND disappointed and out almost 100 dollars. But I did bear witness to unspeakable chimpanzee behaviors. Rating: 1/10. I found this Zoo to be overpriced, very few animals. HORRIBLE FOOD, terrible service. To the Zoo , PLEASE. You can do better. Pay a buck more per hour and get people who care, older more responsible people, there making your food. If you're going to be charging your RIDICULOUS mark up for the food you're serving at least get the quality right. We threw it all away. We won't ever come back. We both feel ripped off and taken advantage of.
