We're glad you visited, Catherine. We are currently planning a refresh of the entire museums permanent exhibitions so that they will be more interactive and reflective of our entire communitys experience. In the meantime, we do hope visitors find the content interesting and encourage them to enjoy our special exhibitions and ongoing slate of excellent programs throughout the year. All special exhibitions, such as our current "World of Mythic Creatures," are interactive and bilingual. The Local Wanderer Program is a great way to enjoy our museum and also other cultural attractions throughout the city!

I finally checked this place out after living in Orlando for 7 years. I enjoyed the themes of most of the exhibits, especially the African American history exhibit. But the museum is almost entirely "look at things and read a ton of dense information on the walls." And of the things to look at, I'd estimate about 25% were real artifacts/memorabilia and the other 75% were replicas, reprints, and representations. There was one interactive part where kids can move barrels around to see what they can fit in their wagon as a pioneer, but I did not see any other interactive areas. One of the newer exhibits was bilingual, but the others were English-only. If you are visually impaired, not proficient in reading English, or a restless young visitor, you are probably going to have a hard time interpreting the exhibits and enjoying them. PRO TIP: Use your OCLS card to get free tickets through the Local Wanderer program. Then there's nothing lost if you aren't impressed by the museum.
