An officer pulled me over for following the vehicle in front of me too close during morning traffic... When he really pulled me over because I was black and had an out of state license plate, and I know this because he was driving next to me then feel back. At that point I knew all I could do was drive normally until he decided to flick his lights on. I was behind someone going below the speed limit with steady traffic to my left, and the officer literally blocked me in on my right side so the only way to get out in front of the vehicle would be to speed in front of a cop and cut him off extremely closely. When do you ever see a cop going exactly the speed limit? He could have easily passed me and made it easier for me to get around the vehicle in front of me, but instead sat in my blind spot as I navigated in a state Im obviously not familiar with. He then asked me to get out of the car and go wait in his vehicle before he even told me why he pulled me over, he said it was because he couldnt hear me from the passenger window, but proceeded to talk to my passenger through the window for 5 minutes, while I waited in his car like a criminal. Obviously trying to separate us to interrogate over tailgating he caused by boxing me in on the highway.
The beginning of January, my car was stolen. Jeremiah and I had to argue with the responding officer, when JEREMIAH found the vehicle, about the police doing an investigation. I believe it was Detective Gooley who agreed on investigating. First a talked to a lady who told me they TOOK prints and it will be about a week to get results. Well almost 2 weeks go by when I call them up and leave a message. The next day a gentleman called me and said they didn't find anything. I got a letter in the mail saying they found a wallet and cookbook in my car. I recently got possession of my car back. There was a nice old muddy hand print on the rear bumper of my car. Tonight I went to clean it out, I found these... I'll give it to them that they don't know who smokes and what they smoke, but those black and milds are not ours. In the middle console was hair, not from anyone I allowed in my car. And THREE bullet shells right on the floor... how the hell the police didn't notice those IF THEY REALLY DID DO WHAT THEY CLAIMED. So from what I understand from my experience, the people I am paying to SERVE and PROTECT my family either do the very minimum or are complete liars that don't deserve to wear a badge.
Always protecting our city and fighting crime. Ive never met an OPD officer, Sheriff, or State Trooper who wasnt professional and honest. Even if I was grumpy, wrong, or argumentative. For all that they go through on a daily basis, for all the drama, for all the risks, my hat is off to them! They deserve nothing short of complete respect and backing from society.
We have extremely professional law enforcement in Omaha. We are lucky to have such a fair department policing Omaha. The only folks that bad mouth them are usually upset that they got caught doing something illegal and they blame the department for enforcing the law. Be very wary of anti-police sentiment, often times there is a anti-law and order sentiment behind it. Thanks to the guys and gals in blue!
Weakest police force of any metro I lived in. Step it up. Double your officers / squad cars. So many crimes so little results! I know I know it's not your problem.
