The service started off great a few months ago and was a lot better than blue host, only in terms of speed. But as we started to grow our following, wpengine became a nightmare. They essentially blocked us from importing and growing our site catalog and posts. But to make things worse, after telling us to find a new hosting provider, they blocked us from exporting the xml so that we can easily migrate to a better and cheaper platform. The company attitude was non caring and non understanding because we are a small business. They literally would tell us there is nothing they could do to help us import or export our data unless we paid a lot more enterprise level money. So we had to recreate our platform from scratch on a better vps platform, turned out to be the best option. Id recommend staying away from wpengine unless you have a basic site that does not need updating. But even then , There are better and cheaper platforms out there like aws lightsail, that make it just as easy as wpengine to setup. Hope this helps a small business make better decisions than we did.

The company has gone down hill since the Silver Lake investment in early 2018. The company undervalues and underpays front line support staff. If you have a negative interaction, this is the reason why.

They are affordable, and local ,and have a intuitive interface. Those are the only good things I can say about them They have live chat support which you will need due to the extensive issue you are going to have with various error that originate on their side. Redirect issues, outage problems, and other technical maladies that one would assume would be non-existent with the "best in managed wordpress hosting." Their customer support while useful is not always responsive in the time a small business would need in emergency situations, We personally have had issues with asking to be placed on our own dedicated server, then being put on a shared environment, then being told we have no more space and then being strung though three sales people, who each told us a different story before finally having to track down the agent who signed us up and going thought him which finally resolved the problem.
