I was a licensed real estate agent in the 2000s. It was my job to take prospective residents to this apartment. If they wee placed, my broker was paid a commission out of the apartment's advertising budget. Nick, was the manager. He appeared moody at times. There was an apartment locator who was morbidly obese with a gravely, chain smoking voice who was always in everybody's business. I stopped taking clients here.
I lived here 26 months and had very mixed feelings about it. At first I loved it, my neighbors were nice and it was quiet. But both summers during Monsoon season the air conditioning would poor out water if it was on. After having them try to fix it the first summer it wasn't worth the trouble the second summer. I believe mold also grew with all of the moisture as I have never been sicker. It was a very brutal summer that year. In addition there were large sewer roaches outside in the courtyard everywhere. I had one in my apartment, but since I lived uphill I had a high threshold. The people who lived downhill would get them crawling under their door. I will say they are very responsive to pest control and maintenance issues. However, even with their responsiveness I got carpet beetles when the new neighbor moved in. I spent lots of money trying to get rid of them and washing all my stuff. The biggest thing that upset me was I did not get my full deposit back. I thoroughly cleaned everything, better than I was given, and was told that I had not cleaned certain areas. I have lived in many places and always get my full deposit back. I asked for photos, which is AZ state law and Nick claimed he couldn't send them, that their was error on my side. In addition, he said that I had to get the carpet cleaned before move out and that it was on the lease. As this is sometimes a common request, I would have remembered that but when I asked for a copy of my lease again he said that it would not email. I would have had a different review for this place if the end didn't happen and I didn't feel cheated. Especially because a couple of my other neighbors had similar issues with not receiving their deposit back.

This complex is an older place with great charm. Some things to be aware of if you didnt know is that with utilities all included you dont get to choose when its cool air (chiller) or heat, the landlord does. Once you learn how Nick works and does things life at The Madrid is easy. Pool is always clean but lacks comfort of furniture as well as charm. Loved my neighbors, good social mix of young and older.
Im sorry you thought the customer service was poor. I did say no but I also stated that I do not know when we would have another one available. You must of hung up right away. I tried calling you back but every time I called the line was busy. We take pride in our customer service. I apologize you felt that way.
