Northeast Atlanta health and rehab center cannot be trusted with your loved ones lives. Period. Here is just one example: James Dempsey, age 89, WW2 veteran, father and grandfather was left to die in his bed when he needed medical attention most. Mr Dempsey's family placed a hidden camera in his room, as he had told them about the unacceptable level of care he was receiving. On the night in question, Mr Dempsey is on video, asking, literally begging for help on his intercom microphone before losing consciousness and dying. The nurses finally came to check on him after he'd died. They pronounced him dead at 5:28am, but waited until 6:25am to call 911. Unreal. The head nurse testified that she began CPR from the moment she entered the room. The video shows she never even attempted to revive Mr Dempsey. In fact, the nurses never once even checked Mr Dempsey's vital signs. Instead, they stood over his lifeless body, laughing hard and joking about something we can't hear clearly. Upon learning she'd been videotaped, the head nurse admitted she never tried to revive Mr Dempsey, at all. She only said that in a pathetic attempt to seem she'd done all she could, when in reality she didn't lift her pinky finger. In fact, upon learning their actions had been caught on video, ALL the nurses fought very hard to keep the video out of court proceedings. They fought it as far as they could, taking it to the supreme court. We can be thankful that these nurses have since had their licenses to practice revoked, however they were allowed to continue "nursing" in Georgia for 3 years until their licenses were revoked, which I find unbelievable and completely unacceptable. Their licences should have been revoked the very same day. I have taken the time to type all this in order to warn those considering trusting people like this with their loved ones. The "nurses" on the video should be sitting in jail, without question or mercy. These "nurses" are an absolute embarrassment to their profession, and should face FAR more severe punishment than losing their licenses to practice. I can't even imagine how the family of Mr Dempsey must feel. This man was a veteran who risked everything to fight for these vile nurses freedom, before they even existed. These vile, disgusting excuses for nurses should live every minute of the rest of their lives in utter humiliation, and should never be allowed near so much as a scuffed knee and a bandage. I'd say they deserve far worse, but I don't want the brown-shirts at "goggle" to reject my review. So I'll refrain from speaking my mind unfiltered. But in reality, people such as these "nurses" shouldn't feel safe walking down the street. I'd STRONGLY recommend ANYONE who even has the slightest suspicion their loved ones are not being treated right, should set up hidden cameras and hold these scumbag "nurses" accountable for their gross malpractice. For the rate these "nursing homes" charge, your loved ones should be treated like absolute royalty, NO MATTER WHAT!!! On average, these "nursing homes" are charging $9000 a MONTH to watch over your loved ones. For that kind of money, they deserve to be eating the VERY BEST food available, and getting the MOST pampered treatment imaginable. Instead, "homes" feed them garbage, and look for ways to "cut costs" wherever they can. NURSING HOMES MUST BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE...for the treatment (or lack of) of their patients, and they MUST be held accountable for where the money goes. Because we all know 100% it doesn't cost $9000/mo to feed someone garbage and let em sit there all day. Personally, I would never trust a place with this history to care for my loved ones. To the "nursing home"... I'm not sorry! This should NEVER have happened. The nurse group standing around him laughing only suggests this is far from the first time these "nurses" allowed someone to "slip away" under their care. You can't get that trust back. ASK your loved ones what kind of care they're getting, and BELIEVE them!!! If they're not happy, there's probably a real good reason!
