Were glad you enjoyed the work done by Zelmar Kitchen Designs-ZKD, but were confused why you would rate our business poorly a year after it was completed to your satisfaction and based it on other companies you hired at your discretion & paid directly. In broad terms: if you ask for help & I recommended you buy a faucet from Home Depot & you dont like their selection, that should be a review left on their page. ZKD went above & beyond to remodel your home despite you being outside of our service area & you being away for FULL time of the renovation. We essentially took on a role of a GC & managed everything in your absence without asking for any compensation just to make it easy for you. When you made your final payment you praised us & stated everything was to your satisfaction. Fast forward ONE YEAR: You stained your kitchen sink by leaving either Dawn Dish Soap (which, if left to sit for long periods of time, can leave stains & marks) or something else in it for a prolonged time. This became a claim with the sink manufacturer who sent out someone to clean it FREE of charge. They had never seen something like your stains before & determined, due to its nature, it wasnt a damage from regular wear & tear. We offered to replace it for you at COST & our attempts to contact you & do so were ignored. Now that the sink warranty has been declined, you decide a year later to write a review (rating ZKD a 2 Star), but spent the entire review talking about Contractors that are their own separate companies. They were recommended by ZKD & in reality each of your complaints are non-issues as we will explain with the facts. We stand behind each contractor, as they are the among best at what they do and work hard to please every client. Youre entitled to leave & write reviews, but the info you provided is incomplete & in some instances downright incorrect. Again with ANY remodel, challenges/issues arise, BUT they were resolved to your satisfaction (as noted & stated by you). ZKD doesnt sell ceramic tiles & the tiles you purchased were a high-quality porcelain. Minor touch ups to tiles or repairs after many installers work on a space is common. The important thing is the spaces were tiled & completed properly. Our installer returned & fixed a tile in question & also attended to a grout complaint you had with the shower. Being a professional company with morals & business ethics, VGS found out that on 10 of their jobs during a time frame, the glass manufacturer provided them with some pieces that were not tempered. You were contacted & informed by them that the replacement would be done at no cost (in order to make sure your glass enclosure is up to code). It wasn't you that noticed it, but rather VGS who stepped up to correct a mistake to ensure quality & safety. In regards to the LED lights & the handyman hired: he declined to install the light for you on several occasions (he wasnt comfortable installing it), but eventually caved in & attempted to install it for you. Upon breaking it, he wrote you a check for the full amount requested. He never charged you anywhere else for that amount in order to compensate for his loss. On his original invoice, which you agreed upon & signed off on, he noted & included several things that were "options" & not included in the original price. Once you exercised those options & had him complete those items, he then added that amount to the final bill as any company would after a client adds work to a project. We have ALL the documentation to show & prove your claims are wrong. In addition: the light was $1,050 (as the check indicates & you requested) & was not $2,000 as you falsely claim in your review. Throughout this process, we have gone above & beyond to help & show respect to you. Best regards, ZKD.

I specifically sought out this family owned company because I wanted someone to manage a kitchen and two bath remodel while we were out of town. I also do not really trust a lot of these fly-by-night subcontractors. While the work Zelmar did in designing the kitchen cabinets and baths was solid, every single one of their sub-contractors (who were "highly recommended," each being the "best" according to Zelmar), was nothing but disappointed. The tile guy claimed it was the plumber who left nicks and scratches in the new ceramic tile. The tile guy also claimed the shower doors were not put in correctly, thus they were leaking (turned out he did not grout properly). The glass and mirror people just picked up our shower enclosure today because the glass was not tempered. The sink seller asked us about our use and then said that she believed we had a defective sink. Then we never heard from her again. We contacted Zelmar and when they finally talked to her it turns our they are all positive that we did something to the sink to stain it (stainless steel sink used approximately 6 weeks in the course of a year. We do not "juice," we do not pour things down the sink, we do not put food in the sink. We simply wash pre-cleaned dishes using Dawn dish soap.). The handyman charged us an outrageous amount to paint to bathrooms. I am positive the increase in price was due to the fact that he burned out our $2K LED light and had to buy us a new one. Zelmar seems to think I should not have paid them (Zelmar) for the cabinets if I was not happy with the subcontractors. HUH? Last I checked subcontractors do not think twice about putting a mechanics lien on a property for non-payment. I also heard that a lot of the problems (or hiccups as they called them) were due to the fact that I was outside their normal service area. Whatever.

Hi Fred! Thanks for reaching out and sharing your phone call experience with us. We are sad to hear you did not enjoy your call with us, but I can assure you there was no malintent on our side. As a family owned business we take pride in our company & honesty. Unfortunately your home is outside of our service area and every business has to maintain a certain radius to ensure quality. The contractors we use do not live near your property and we are unable to force the team to travel outside the locations they have agreed to service. For some of them you would be an hour + of traveling. In some cases logistics don't allow a project to be a good fit. Rather than disappointing you with a less than perfect service later, we would rather let you know ahead of time. Sadly sometimes phone conversations don't allow someone to see the full picture or someone's intentions. Called to get a quote and was told (very rudely) that this company doesn't serve Kissimmee. I live in the north side of Kissimmee close to Celebration which is less than 25 minutes away from this business. Apparently that isn't acceptable for this business. I would recommend finding someplace that actually values new customers.
