I've never been in the place. I'm homeless and it doesn't seem very inviting for poor people. I was sitting outside once and someone told me to go. Customer complained and I wasn't even panhandling, my presence was all it took.
Too many idle administrators sitting upstairs or working from home and not enough employees on the floor to support the customers. As a regular shopper here, I am concerned for the well-being of the Wedges laborers. I shouldnt be seeing wrist braces and slings on your employees. Cashiers seem overworked and burned out since their numbers were cut in half in order to social distance every other register throughout the pandemic. Now that masks are no longer required, youd think all of the registers would be open, but the store seems to continue being short staffed which causes lines down aisles that stress out customers and put high strain on the skeleton crew of highly-taken-advantage-of workers that have no choice but to hurriedly rush through hundreds of additional interactions per day with no additional pay. If additional laboring staff wont be hired, it would be nice to see more faces from the administration assisting the staff of the store when lines build up. If you cant afford to hire more workers, then you need to start letting administrators go and use that freed up money to hire actual workers. This co-op does not feel like a family anymore; I can very clearly see that the workers are being taken advantage of here. Do better.
Always the best! Been shopping the Wedge since the 70's. Rainbow chard, Italian chard, the cleanest fresh chicken livers in town! Crusty breads, wonderful cheese selections. Took home a brown butter brioche donut as a new treat to try.
Bought fresh basil, used the next day and it was all rotten. Bought cereal, tasted awful. Costly too. Although we fully support co-ops, we won't be returning.
