Physician billing service : Daniella at this customer service dept is rude as hell. Today I called to inquire about a refund for my overpayment . when I first called a week ago, they said they would mail me a check. Today , Daniella said they refunded to my credit card which was already closed . So I asked her to help me to reverse it. She first laughed at me , then said why didnt you tell us the first time you called that your card was closed. Well, because you guys told me you would mail a check. And why is it such a hassle to refund customers when they have no problem mailing out thousands of bills on the same service ? They literally billed you physician fee, facility fee, and service fee for the 1 visit you received . I was SHOCKED to receive multiple bills though I thought I came to an outpatient visit. They still charge for hospital facility fee ...
I gave birth here as a first time mother in 2020. I came 3 hours after my water broke and was not experiencing any painful contractions. I did not have a complicated pregnancy. I recieved pre-natal care from a nurse practitioner at another clinic so I did not plan for a specific doctor to deliver my child. At the hospital, I was met by an Asian male doctor who reccomended I take a pill that would speed up my labour process to avoid infection. After taking the pill, the doctor in training predicted I would not give birth until after about a day or two. The doctor in training was extremely rough when checking for my dialation. I was not given another doctor to check on me. An hour after taking the pill I felt very painful contractions that were close together. Two hours later, I requested Epidural. The doctor in training disapproved of the request and encouraged me to wait longer as he was still under the impression that I would not be giving birth soon. The next hour I demanded the Epidural and recieved it. Five hours later I felt I needed to push soon, yet no one wanted to check for my dialation status. For an hour I kept calling from my hospital bed and requesting a dialation check. However, because the doctor in training was so certain I would not be giving birth anytime soon, it was prolonged. When I was finally checked by an experienced white female doctor, who would later deliver my child, I was 10 cm dialated. This was 13 hours after my admission into the hospital. The doctor decided to set up for delivery and the process took over 30 minutes. When she was ready, she was shocked to find out my baby was lower than expected. She assumed I was was pushing. I didn't realize I was pushing, however I am not surprised because for the past hour I was fighting the urge to push (even with epidural). Five minutes into intentionally pushing, I had to stop and burst into tears. I was extremely stressed over my experience of being ignored and I felt the staff did not care as much, which was a huge disappointment for what was suppose to lead into one of the best moments in my life. When I gathered my strength, I pushed for 10 more minutes and my son was born. This was 14 hours after my admission into the hospital and and 11 hours after I took the pill to speed up my labour. I expected more attentive care at one of the best hospitals in the country. I felt overlooked and not taken seriously enough for my pain. I am extremely grateful I naturally did not have any real complications during birth. For my next child (many years down the line) I plan on finding a Black or Latino doctor to deliver. l will also refuse medical advice from anyone in training without it being supported by an experienced doctor directly in front of me. I learned how important it is to advocate for yourself and to not assume the best care would be given. I am sure UCLA is still a great hospital, however my personal experience was not the best.
