Huge outdoor wall gas tons of potential but it falls flat because the route setting is sub-par and the majority of employees are not climbers. Otherwise it is a great idea. I wish they would get better route setters like the guys at First Ascent. Also, I have never been there when all of the walls have been opened. They usually close large parts of it. Possibly due to lack of employees. It is still fun and a great place for first timers. Hopefully it will rude to its full potential some day.
I was super stoked to try the climbing wall here, and while it was fun, I felt like there was a lot of unrealized potential for climbers. Went on a weeknight in June. Only about half the wall was set, and only about 5 top ropes were actually up. I hear the day pass price has gone up from $7 to $15 but you get less for it - bouldering, auto belays, and top rope/lead are all separate fees, but they used to be all under the single fee. Also, auto belays are $25 for only half an hour, which is just ridiculous to me, especially when there arent many top ropes set up (maybe they put up more on the weekends?) However, even with the limited climbing options, Id climb here all the time if they had a seasonal membership - Im sure that would attract a lot of climbers in the area! It has the potential to be a really awesome climbing spot - very unique! Its so convenient to where I live, and fun to get out of the gym. Staff is very nice, though they also seem dissatisfied with the way the wall is run. If it was run more like a climbing gym itd be way more accessible and fun to climb at for both first-timers and regular climbers! Please bring back seasonal memberships!!!
