I dont have too many parks to compare to, but to the last one I visited in the Cotswolds this just didnt fill me with the same awe. The collection of animals whilst been grander in some instances were not as accessible and in as engaging enclosures as smaller less traditionally attractive alternatives. A lot of the new area felt under developed and the dinosaur section a complete distraction. This felt more like a theme park that a wildlife park at times. Glad we visited, saved by one or two amazing experiences (otters being one) but wouldnt rush back.
Absolutely love this park. The only downside is that in bad weather there is limited seating for indoor picnic and a few enclosures that you cannot see inside so miss some of the animals (mainly big cats and hyena). I managed to visit on one of the busiest days of the year and the staff were very well organised. The queues looked horrendous driving in but they soon went down as they were managed amazingly. I would maybe suggest magnets in the lemur walk through as there seem to be far too many people who don't understand 1 door at a time but this park is always a great day out and definitely gets your steps in without even realising it!
Total Rip Off!!! One big money making racket. An expensive walk!! Farcical discount and promotional offers. We bought two Gold Annual Memberships (250), the day before we visited, only to discover on entering the park a promotional offer for 20% off. When I queried this at the ticket office, I was told there was nothing they could do and no refunds are available, under any circumstances. The intransigent attitude of the ticket office staff/management beggars belief. In addition the price of the food in the Evolution restaurant is on a par with London restaurant prices. A message to the Directors of YWP, sort out your discount/promotional offers.
