So first of all… the melisse, which is a restaurant where you can sit inside or outside IS NOT a 2 Michelin stars place. It doesn’t have any stars. 2 Michelin stars is chef’s private dinner with 14 people seating. It books a month in advance and it’s $290 per person for a 14 course meal. The way this place is advertised is really confusing, on the website it says about 2 Michelin stars, but it turns out there are basically 2 different areas with one entrance, one of which is a 2 Michelin star place, but the other one, bigger one where everyone goes thinking it’s 2 Michelin stars actually doesn’t have any stars. If you don’t ask you’ll never know. The restaurant itself has great cocktails, but food is just whatever… lady had a duck ragout… where is the duck? There was no meat… may be it was in the sauce, but physically there was no meat AT ALL. Just a bunch of pistachios, which ruined the flavour. I had a beef sirloin. 3 tiny pieces of meat that were just ok.. kinda chewy. And check your bill, on the last line they add “health charge” of 4% of what your bill is which helps them pay for their health insurance as explained to me by the employee…. What???? Why would I pay for your health insurance?? As soon as I asked about it they backed off real quick and took it off the check. Felt scammed, honestly. This place isn’t worth visiting at all. Chef himself should check what they’re serving here using his name, cause it’s honestly kind of embarrassing.
We actually did not charge you. We hope you have a happy anniversary

I had the unfortunate experience with the general manager. It was our 1 Anniversary and unfortunately despite Michelin Stars, and reservations he said he was as charging for Citrin. False advertising for thief Michelin Star Restaurant. Heartbroken for our 1 year with no empathy.
Went for dine LA. Hubby loved the lobster pasta specialty! The bread service qas divine! The basil flavored brioche was ridiculously good. Wonderful ambiance on their patio.
Not worthy of 2 stars, more like 1/2. The atmosphere was lacking, way too bright and casual inside and they played pop music pretty loudly. 3/5 tables wore sneakers and hoodies. The food was a confusing combination of raw, gelatinous and frothy concoctions. Lots of cheese in everything, nothing really stood out. I’m glad we didn’t get the “truffle pairing” where they just shave white truffles on everything for an extra $225/pp. Also, too much Yuzu! I love Yuzu, but they wore it out - every dish had some form of Yuzu! It wasn’t all bad, but when you put it against other 2 Michelin star spots like Chicago’s Ever and NYC’s Aska, you realize it’s an entirely different ballgame. The service was excellent, however, and our waiter was very attentive. For $1,000 per couple though you can do so much better in California alone - and that’s saying something.
