Dr. Yee spent less time examining my eyes than any optometrist I have ever been to. As a result, I could not see out of the prescription. Martha said, "It will take a couple of weeks to get used to." I returned to change my frames because they would not stay on my face, but I told Martha I would continue until I had worn them two weeks to see if they got better." By this time, I had a useless pair of glasses for a month. When I couldn't read street signs, I knew they were not right, so I made an appointment to go back, which was two weeks later because Dr. Yee was out of town. When I went back, I said I had no confidence in Dr. Yee, and wanted to know if I went to my ophthalmologist and got a different prescription if she would give me a new pair for what I had already paid, which was almost $1,000. Dr. Yee was the rudest "professional" I have ever encountered. She crossed her arms in a combative stance, and told me she would not give me another pair of glasses because it had been "several months." (It had been less than 8 weeks of trying to fix the problem). She then disappeared to the back of the store and I never saw her again. I got a refund for the frames and was out the cost of the lens, over $400. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. AVOID THIS PLACE!!
The Positive: Facility is clean and professional. The staff who assisted me offered great service and the visit itself was pleasant. The Negative: Due to their errors, I had to make two additional visits to purchase my glasses which wasted my time and added much frustration in the process. First time, they left a field blank which was not supposed to be blank. So my prescription was rejected. Second time, I obtained the correct value for the missing field and filled it myself. But they did not remind me of the fact that if I corrected the error myself without their signature, the prescription would have been invalid (being a first-time glasses-wearer, I had no knowledge of it) so my prescription was rejected again. Third time, I called them I already did not trust their professionalism and asked them to both fax my correct prescription to Costco (where I purchase glasses) AND send me a copy just in case. Guess what, glad I did that because Costco never received their faxwas able to purchase my glasses with my copy of prescription. Following up leaving my honest review, they keep calling me which I do not appreciate at all so I blocked their number: at this point, who would want to waste more time with them? I left the feedback through email and the best way for them to handle the situation is to respond to email to sincerely apologize, recognize their mistakes and set in place new procedures to prevent possible re-occurrence of such errors. Overall, maybe its unlikely that similar situation will happen to you but my experience was bad due to above-mentioned un-professionalism. If you look at their reviews youd see a pattern of deteriorating service for the past year or so. (See how many bad reviews in the past year and how many likes they got vs previous years) Hope they can learn from it and improve their services and hope you guys will make an informed decision before coming here.
Love the amazing and so joyful Dr. Yee. Such a great, happy spirited and knowlegeable doctor and I thank you very much for personally calling the prescription to the pharmacy for me. Your amazing team are so sweet and helpful in allowing me to try different shades of your beautiful glasses. Such a memorable experience at Avant-Grade Optometry. Took my daughter here for a second opinion and they were absolutely wonderful. They explained what was going on with my daughters eyes and took away any concerns that I had. I will be switching over to them.
Had a great experience for the past year until I recently ordered colored contacts. Ive had contacts and glasses with no problem. I opened the first pair of colored contacts to use it and couldn't see with them. Thats not my fault being prescribed something I cant even use. They wouldnt allow me to return or give me credit for regular contacts. Spend over $200 for nothing. Dont ever get colored contacts through them, they wont warn you.
