My husband and I had already rescued 2 Huskies and wanted to add a 3rd to our little family. We went looking at rescues in the region, but when we saw Luna (her name now) with The Pit Bull Pen, we fell in love and started the process of adopting her. The first thing I noticed was how thorough the application was. For some, this may be a drawback - but for me it really signified how much the animals in their care meant. They also required someone with Northern Breed experience - such an important thing when dealing with a Husky! We set up a time to meet Luna and allow her to meet our current pups and I was again very impressed with the process and their staff. Luna has been with us for just over 4 months now. She did have an issue with her hip that was not noticed by The Pit Bull Pen and their vet, BUT it can also be hard to tell when going through intake and before the pup starts to let those things show ... and it certainly wouldn't have made a difference in my adopting her! She was spayed, up to date on shots, and they sent us home with a few dewormer treatments for her as well. In the time since adopting Luna, I have remained in touch with The Pit Bull Pen and update them on Luna's progress (which has been amazing). She adds to our little family immeasurably and I would absolutely recommend or work with The Pit Bull Pen in the future.

Well let me tell you of my personal experience with this group. I completed everything for this group to adopt a dog. I told them that I had a 15 year old frenchie that underwent a extensive surgery for a sarcoma on a Wednesday and we were denied for adoption of a adult dog due to the fact that we had a dog that was in a weakened state. Not that we couldn't financially or emotionally ready to care for the dog ready for adoption. Once I questioned the process, I was told I was done.? Ok now I'm on a mission to inform all corporations that donate to this non profit.
