It's been 4 years this August/September since we had our Horizon pool installed. We have been residents of Pearland, Texas for 25 years and really love supporting our local businesses; therefore, we decided to withhold our negative opinions 4 years ago. Today, we can no longer keep quiet. While the pool was being installed, the communication from the office was never ideal and trust me, once you sign the agreement, start paying and the work gets started..it only goes downhill from there. Of course, this "family owned" operation is trying to make money. That's what businesses do; however, this business hires the cheapest non-skilled labor that money can buy who cannot communicate in English, sometimes bringing their very small children to the worksite. We had a big issue with this practice which was basically ignored from the owner. We felt that an unsupervised 3-4 year old running around our property amidst large earth moving machines and other dangerous equipment was a huge liability for us. This complaint was treated as being unreasonable. Then there was the laying of the electrical wiring. They had to access the main power box at the back of the house, bury the wiring (in PVC) and dig a few hundred feet wrapping around the house to the pool. They used a Ditch Witch to accomplish the dig. Mid way through, I noticed a foul odor at an area that they buried the wiring and discovered that they had buried exactly on top of our sewage pipe leading to our septic tank, busting the pipe with the Ditch Witch. This problem had been covered up as if it never happened. We immediately pointed out this problem to the owners, who were rather nasty about having to correct this, but they had the team come out and "repair" the pipe. We have noticed the slow flushing and backing up of toilets since we had the pool put in and had no idea why. We often wondered if a tree root had invaded the pipe. We now know the answer to this question since we have had several plumbers out here giving us estimates up to $6,000.00 (that was just for 10 feet). The aforementioned Ditch Witch sliced through the top of our sewage pipe in several areas...not just the one I discovered while they were here. They had already hit that pipe several times, covered it up and kept right on going. We are just now uncovering this nightmare and discovering that it could span a few hundred feet. I already know the response I would get from them if I confronted them about this. If they surprise us with by doing the right thing- I'll let you know. But for now-BEWARE...GO WITH ANYBODY ELSE!
