Avoid at all costs I have never received the bike so I can't judge the quality. I purchased a bike from Brompton 7 months ago. The bike was never delivered but they never gave me a refund. I discovered 7 months later they 'forgot' to give me a refund. Because of this I have incurred in a considerable amount of fees from my credit card. Brompton as I write this still has not refunded the fees I am owed because of their mistake. Avoid at all costs.
There are a lot of good reasons why buy a Brompton as I did. Easy to manoeuvre, pretty light weighted, quick to fold, it goes under the desk and it has a rather neat design and colour. Why am I thinking of getting rid of it? I had an unfortunate accident and I would need to wait 12 weeks to get a piece manufactured and delivered (I live in London...). The company is more committed to selling than caring for existing customers. Many stores do not service/repair Brompton since getting parts is rather painful. Last but not least I would need to pay quite a lot of for the piece and the repair service. I am currently paying for public transport.. that here in London are not cheap. Is it the massive investment for this tiny bike worth it? Right now I have not reached my return on investment. Moreover, by the time my bike is back on the road I could have bought at least 2.5 foldable bikes at decathlon, which are not the best but they do their job just fine. Should have I bought one on the first place? :(
My bicycle was extremely well made folded easily into a small package and allowed me to commute on the train. There are compromises of course (all because it folds), but they are less of an issue than with other brands. If you need better gears, get the basic model and have the rear wheel rebuilt with a Shimano 11 speed hub.
bought ebike and front wheel buckled after third journey returned bike and they scratched it claiming misuse. They are liars and conmen and further investigation shows ceo resigning and links to China which wud explain their attitude. They are no longer a British company they have somehow circumvented to rules that define a comapny as British and not chinese. But these bikes are chinese junk from Taiwan. Landrover has rebadged and many other british comapnys are selling out to china and D trump is right China is trying to take over the west by rebadging. Its been 5 months and they still have my bike and wont repaair or give refund.
