I visited Victory Vision Care to get an eye exam and prescription for contact lenses. The exam was good and the optometrist and team were nice. I had made an appointment but there was a backlog of people, and my exam ended up running up against their closing hours. Because of this, the optometrist asked me to come back a couple of days later for the dilation part of the exam which I did and had a similar experience. However, their staff told me that my exam was not covered by my insurance and made me pay for the exam out of pocket, but later I received an explanation of benefits from my insurance and discovered that they did bill my insurance for the exam. On top of that, because I visited twice (first for most of the exam and second for the dilation part of the exam), they billed my insurance twice. Fortunately my insurance coverage is solid, but it would appear that they got paid three times (once by me and twice by my insurance) for the same routine eye exam. I'm not sure if this is a mistake or an intentional deceptive practice, but I intend to find out. Furthermore, I asked for my contact lens prescription after both visits and both times they tried to pressure me into ordering from them and made an excuse for why I would need to come back for my prescription. This is an illegal practice (see the FTC's Contact Lens Rule) and I intend to report them.
Before I start I would like to say this is one of the best optical stores in Brooklyn that stuff is always super friendly except for the woman at the front desk shes always unfriendly and does not like to help people, I have come into this place about 4 times and everyone was always nice except her, she ruined my experience She should be retrained or something
I work just around the corner from this place, so I went in, for a quick eye exam. The staff other than the doctor, was very abrupt and frankly rude. On my first visit, I had to tell the woman at the counter, I thing or two about putting her finger to her lips, and sshh me, like a child! The technician who prepares the glasses, was also very abrupt, after her telling me, on my second visit, and last, that I had Medicaid, (which I don't, I work for the City of New York) not that there's anything wrong with Medicaid. She adamantly, and quite loudly told me that I had Medicaid, and that I was lucky, lucky for you, not me she added! I spent over $600 for two pair of glasses, and she thinks I'm lucky, because my insurance gave me a discounted rate, which enabled me to pay $600, instead of $900 for two pair of glasses, which to me is outrageous!! So as I told her I will spread the luck and never come back to her establishment again! If you have a choice don't go to Victory Vision care!!
