I have no personal issue with the supplies they sell, or the quality of the items. However, their customer service leaves a great deal to be desired. I ordered a number of supplies and an Anvil Foundry from them, and while I was aware that it would likely ship from the factory as opposed to their store, the shipping information provided implied that it was arriving with the other items I had ordered. The supplies arrived, but not the Foundry. They only tracking number provided states my order was delivered, even though the Foundry was not with the shipment. When I tried to contact them about this issue, I found that there is no way to talk to a real person on the phone. You may only email, text, or live chat with them. While there is a number that one may call, it merely directs you to one of the aforementioned options. That is an impressive level of neglect and disregard for customer service. In the future I will make sure to take my business to a company that actually has the time and consideration to speak with their customers like real people.
Pros: - Very good selection. I've bought many kits and they were well packed, labeled, and had good instructions. - Prices are just alright, but I only buy during sales. - Quick replies to messages. - Owned by Northern Brewer so kits are identical, but for some reason, Midwest is cheaper. Cons: - Shipping can be slow. They do say to wait 3-5 days, but I really don't get why it takes so long, unless they are getting hundreds of orders every day and was short staffed.
Id give no stars if I could. I wanted to call the store about a wine kit listed online in the store with a quick question before I ordered. The phone number had been removed from the site. So I tried the chat which said answered in a few minutes. Two short and quick questions that could have been answered in less than 30 seconds went unanswered. Then a message popped up that customer service would close in 28 minutes. I kept watching for a response. Nothing. The minute the chat closed I received an email not addresses to me, didnt answer the two short questions, admonishing me for a quick follow up to ask if they carried what I was asking if it was included in the kit. The email stated a follow up bogs down their system. Why are they afraid to talk to customers and wait so they can email rather than two way communication? This used to be a destination store for us to buy, get info, and purchase new things. Horrible customer service and certainly not a place of knowledgeable or friendly employees. After years of owning a business and teaching business practices including higher learning, I will be sharing this info to those who use their business. However I am finding they are having the same experience,
