I've bought 2 Knomo bags, a messenger bag, and the Harpsden bag. There are 2 key reasons why I was drawn to Knomo: their focus on tech (i.e. bags that fit my laptop), and their focus on quality urban design. Hence my 2 star rating. However, what lets Knomo down is their inattention to quality / making bags that last. Perhaps others will have had different experiences from my own. However, I had to stop using both of my bags after about 6 months each. The first bag (a canvas messenger bag) wasn't colour-fast so after being caught in the rain a few times, much of its original colour had gone. It started fraying after a few months, then eventually was too grubby to be seen in! The second bag I bought after lessons from the first: I wanted a backpack to carry my laptop that was water proof. It started well, the bag looks good and could handle the rain. However, the zipper is made from very tiny plastic pieces. Within a couple of months the first parts of the zipper broke. 6 months in, the zipper has broken in many places, and I've now way to repair it, as it's quite a bespoke zipper. So, while the designs are good, if you're not extra careful and gentle with your bag, it will start to disintegrate/break, several months in. I compare this with a 'One Planet' bag I bought over 10 years ago, and have backpacked with / treated far more roughly. After a wash it still looks as good as new, with simple construction and very sturdy seams and a large metal zip. Built to last. It doesn't have a laptop compartment which is why I no longer use it. So I don't plan to buy Knomo any more, I plan to buy something stronger that won't break after 6 months.
Bizarre experience with online shopping. Ordered wrong bag. Emailed 13 minutes later asking to cancel. Knomo insisted on delivering the unwanted bag, then arranging a separate courier to return the item. Utterly baffling that a modern company would choose to waste so much time and petrol emissions when they knew the bag was coming straight back. The time from emailing to the item being refunded was a month, with the added inconvenience of waiting for couriers who repeatedly didnt show. There was a goodwill discount applied to my other purchase, but I would have rather not had the hassle. Moral of the story: if buying online, woe betide you if you want to return the item.
Love my 15" Maddox laptop bag. Had trouble finding a bag that would fit my 15" MacBook Pro, but tried this and it was perfect. Love the look and simplicity of the bag, and the leather is soft.
Not a good experience. Paid for next day delivery. Did not arrive next day - Friday. The courier they use do not deliver on the weekend so best possible delivery was Monday - two days too late. Courier depot open on Saturday and as item was required as a gift then had to drive 60 miles to pick it up. Got home and opened parcel only to find that they had dispatched incorrect goods. Then had to wait until Monday to telephone Knomo. Delivery of correct goods then arranged for following Wednesday. Telephoned Knomo on Tuesday to obtain tracking number but they did not have it. Their warehouse had apparently not informed them of it. Asked them to chase up warehouse to get it but this seemed very difficult for them to do or they could not be bothered to help. Complete lack of customer service.I would never use them again.
