I've known Zach Lane, and he has known me and my double bass almost since I got it 8 years ago. He does fine tune-up work on my bass when I need a sound post adjustment or a string change. He helped me remove an irritating buzz and guided me toward a different string choice that has worked out tremendously. And I just purchased a fantastic German bow, after he let me take home a box of them to try out. I love going to visit him at his cool workshop in Brooklyn. Great guy, great resource for string instrument repair and purchases. Highly recommended.

I recently dove into the bass shopping market for the first time in 40 years. After visiting a number of shops and trying scores of basses I realized that a bass with all the attributes I wanted and inside my price range was going to be a hard find. After visiting Zachs shop, the second bass I tried changed everything. Zach couldnt have been more patient and accommodating, allowing me to play it in every note and attack combination I could conceive, playing it himself so I could listen at different distances and eventually even changing the strings. Once purchased I had him construct and install a beautifully made and balanced C extension along with some minor cosmetic repairs. All in all a very positive experience!

Wonderful! Went to try out bows as well as purchase new Violin strings. He is very kind and respectable and kept a good conversation with me as I asked him neverending questions about instrument repair and instruments in general. To top it off, the neighborhood looks spectacular! Its nice to be in a good environment when youre doing work on your instrument. Also, the prices are very reasonable. 10/10 and will visit again.
