First impression at Charles Fox set the tone when the security guard was too occupied with his mobile phone to unlock the door for us. Pretentious female sales assistant then appeared inconvenienced by our visit, and demonstrated a total absence of basic sales training, even failing to ask for our contact details, or even ask our names. Well be taking our 5-figure wedding-ring budget to a professional jeweller in London.

Secondly I am sorry that I responded to your complex question with a short reply, at the time I was dealing with another client and just walking by where you were sitting. Three stars only due to the professional helpful service of jonathan, however that's where the professionalism ends. I went in to get my gold and steel submariner cleaned, but wanted to put my name down for a deepsea sea dweller too, when the director was asked to consider it he was very short with me telling me that i would need to be as ace customer before he would consider it, then walked off. The sales person i was with thought the director was rude too and apologised on the directors behalf. When i returned to pick up my watch from cleaning it still had a scuff mark on it, i mentioned this to another sales person, jane, and without even looking at it told me there's nothing more they can do as deep scratches don't come out, i told her it's a scuff not a scratch, but she didn't want to know. Not the kind of service i would expect, if it wasn't for Jonathan they'd get one star. They seem to need reminding that they are not the only shop in the world that sells rolex watches. Going to laings in Southampton, they were happy to put me down for the watch i want and were very polite and helpful in explaining the wait to me.
Dear Mr Matum I am sorry we were unable to help you the day you called in; on that day we had several staff off sick with Covid including our watchmaker, which meant we were incredibly short staffed. Without the skills of a Rolex trained watchmaker, we did not feel happy opening your cherished pocket watch. I am sorry this was not explained to you in more detail. Yours faithfully Charles Fox

My wife and I have been customers for more than fifty years, and have bought jewellery and watches from them in the past so I was dumbfounded when I visited Foxs a few days ago with a vintage Rolex pocket watch. I asked whether Jonathan could open the back so that I could check the serial number and the movement as they are Rolex agents and thought theyd be interested in this fairly rare timepiece also. The young assistant was quite short with me and told me that it would have to be sent to Rolex for them to do this and that it couldnt be done in-house. Very disappointed by this reaction which I thought was rather arrogant and second-rate customer service. I walked across to Arcade Jewellers where their attitude was totally different and their enthusiastic watchmaker helped me with establishing all I wanted to know about the piece.
