Hi, I do not recommend Manhattan Prep. I started at 550 and after 7 months of prep (including paying $1200+ for a 2 month course) and tutoring, I only got a 600 (Q40, V33) on the real exam. I took all the Manhattan Prep practice exams (including the extra ones), kept and error log, reviewed the error log, and wasted my time doing all these other Manhattan Prep exercises. I studied every single day for 1-2 hrs, and more on the weekends. If I had not taken the course, I think I would have gotten the exact same score, if not higher. My recommendation would be to just get a private tutor. I think the only reason I got a 40 on quant is because of my tutor. It's cheaper (around $50 an hour). Verbal I actually was scoring quite well one (40+) but I'm guessing the Manhattan Prep verbal is not even close to the actual GMAT verbal. Manhattan Prep charges a lot of money to not provide results and they don't even have a money back guarantee. I don't know where these positive reviews are coming from, but I believed them and paid for this course and am extremely disappointed. Do not purchase.
I took the GRE class with Jerry Alexander which was instrumental in my success on the test. Under his guidance I scored a 160/170 in Verbal & 165/170 in Quant and later went on to secure an admit in my dream school (MS in CS at NYU). Jerry is a great mentor, always available after classes to clear doubts and also ensured that the classes were interactive and interesting. Long after the classes were over I have reached out to him multiple times to get my essays reviewed, which he gladly did. His honest and insightful feedback has helped me to be draft more concise and impactful essays. A great guide to foster confidence and inculcate required skills! The GRE classes at MPrep are very structured, focussed on strategies to crack the test by helping develop a mindset to understand how the test works and adopt approaches to solve problems in the least possible time with maximum accuracy. After a gap of about 7 years in education, the GRE classes helped me to quickly get back in the habit of regular studies. The course is organised in form of weekly planners to help maintain the pace of preparation through repetition of topics. Being a busy professional a pre-baked plan enabled me to jump in the practice without much fore-thought on how to manage my calendar for robust prep. From my personal experience I can guarantee along with the instructors advice, the 5lb book is all that is needed to score high on both the verbal and quant sections. I strongly recommend MPrep inorder to conquer the GRE test.
I worked with Daniel Fogel on LSAT prep and he was so spot on. He did an amazing job of having me explain my thinking process and pinpointing exactly where I was going wrong...in every section. My score improved by 10 points in a month and a half, pushing me into the 96th percentile. I owe it to Daniel!
If you are not already scoring in the 160s-do not take this class. I took an LSAT class with Manhattan Prep this spring. While Alex was an entertaining instructor, the course fell flat and did not meet my needs as a student. Manhattan Prep markets itself as the LSAT course for "high-scoring" students with a goal of getting 170+. What they don't tell you is this often leads to prioritizing students whose scores are high to begin with (instructors can see scores of all students). Additionally, Alex's overall approach to teaching was lazy-he often rushed through material, and skipped over content. When I brought up concerns about my score, he pushed me to pay for private tutoring. For a student like me (not great at standardized tests), the course & the online materials were not sufficient for my LSAT prep. I've since started studying with Blueprint and in my opinion, they're much better for LSAT prep. My blueprint tutor is very detail oriented and suggested I start from scratch with their curriculum after my experience at Manhattan Prep. I would say Blueprint has a superior LSAT curriculum. The quality of Blueprint's online materials (videos, homework sets and ongoing live "office hours" on LSAT topics via zoom) is also superior. Lastly, Blueprint offers a score guarantee for their classes and tutoring. If you are not already scoring in the 160s-go to Blueprint. Manhattan Prep will take your money and there is no accountability if your score does not increase. Don't fall for the gimmicks (free trial class, "fun instructors", etc)-it's a lazy pedagogy geared at students already scoring very high.
