Definitely don't waste your money. They have a third of the zoo closed for renovations. Went today on half price day and there were many schools there for field trips. Despite there probably being 1,000+ children there, they had almost all the food places closed down. There were lines out the doors because of this and it took 30+ minutes just to get through the line. Even after getting the food, its terrible. The fries taste like cardboard and the graham crackers that come in the kids meals are so stale they are practically inedible. Even for half price tickets, it's definitely not worth it.
My class and I had a horrible time at the zoo. There were far too many people and we were cramped the entire time. Maximum occupancy was surely passed. There was ONE poor guy trying to get what must have been 5,000 kids into the park. The staff was friendly, but whoever is running this operation is inept beyond all belief. Update: years later the same exact problem. Causing horrible traffic.
Daniel from the gift shop rental area displayed excellent customer service. He was very kind and made sure the strollers were extra clean and wiped down for my babies. I left my coffee and he even saved it for me! Super awesome.
Don't go. It's impossibly overcrowded and there is nowhere near enough parking for all the people that try to get in. Personally I am sorry I wasted the hours sitting in traffic on the tiny side streets that lead to the zoo only to be told there was no parking available when I finally got within sight of the zoo. Oh and there are no refunds if you buy tickets online but then can't actually get in.
