I liked this place a lot at first and went frequently but was turned off when I went one day and they told me it was at max capacity for that session. It was empty. I had to wait 15 minutes to go in and when I did, there were tons of people who showed up. It felt nonsensical. It made me feel really sad because the child I was with kept wanting to go through the doors and play and couldn't understand why we had to stay in the waiting area.

Way too crowded, nowhere to put bags and coats and the check in process was disorganized, but its bright and airy and looks like it would be fun for the kids if they limited how many people could be in there at one time.

Full disclosure: I am heavily biased in favor of The Lane because of a deep seated desire for it to thrive. In simple terms, theres nothing like it anywhere within DC for parents and kids. If Im not mistaken they just, and I mean only just now, opened and everything shows so much promise. Its open, its friendly, its terrifically accommodating, and its also so very shiny and new. The owners have a Herculean task ahead of them with regard to long term maintenance. I am hopeful that guests will maintain decorum in an arena that has yet to establish written rules about hand hygiene, where to take off shoes, respecting the elements, and cleaning up after their kids. It is early, it is deserving of a 6-star start. If you live nearby and are searching for anything thats an indoor/outdoor space for kids and parents youve found it. You must come and see.

Hi Jazmin - We're sad your party couldn't happen as planned. Our requirement that all individuals 12 and older be vaccinated to visit our space has been a requirement since Labor Day and is clearly communicated on our website and our email correspondence. Requiring vaccinations is a measure we take to help protect the safety and health of individuals in our space, particularly all of the young children who cannot receive vaccinations yet themselves.
