I'm a local, and have been going to S&B for years. Love the experience, always a great time, and never had a bad experience. But the price has gone up for rentals, and sorry to say, it's just not worth what they are charging now. $20 for a tube rental, $10 for a cooler tube are kinda high considering how frequently they are used. And $30 for a kayak rental seems a bit absurd when you can buy the same kayaks they are renting for under $200. They rent it out 7 times and it has already payed for itself, anything beyond that is pure profit. Some of their kayaks have been in use for years. I understand that gas prices have gone up recently, so they wanted to offset some of the transport costs. But at these prices, you're better off buying your own equipment and transporting it yourself. Save yourself a lot of money.
8 of us were there over the 4th of July weekend and we were highly disappointed. This was not a relaxing, lazy river. There were so many dead trees in the river that we kept getting caught and had to fight to get unstuck from the dead trees. In addition, to the dead trees, there were lots of spiders on those dead limbs and we saw a small snake in the water. The owner should have warned us, better yet get rid of those dead trees so people can relax and enjoy the river instead of our experience.
