The gentleman that was running the shop at the time was obnoxious to the point that Ive never returned. Very cold and off putting demeanor while I attempted to simply browse initially (I did end up buying something in the end btw), specifically, the kind of which perplexed me to the point where I wonder why he chose a profession that demands actual human interaction.
Ms. Oliver, Thank you for visiting Old City Philadelphia and Sugarcube. Please know we encourage a kind and gentle approach when perusing. Many of our products are delicate, requiring special consideration for their presentation and care. Above all, our customers appreciate the mutual reciprocity of enjoying independent fashion in a friendly, thoughtful boutique. We wish you well in your travels.

Was visiting from VA and stopped in to this store. Cute stuff but horrible customer service. While looking through the racks I was told by a salesman that he had just organized that area and if I could "look at the clothes a little bit neater that would be great." Have never been slapped on the hand for merely browsing a rack of clothes. Did like a few items but after that incident I left as quickly as possible.
Passed by this store, SUGARCUBE, it caught my eye. Stopped to browse and found the most unique fashions, accessories and art. Purchased a bracelet and received excellent customer service from the owner. I will return soon..................................................
A pleasure Marvin, thank you! See you again... Cheers!

The boutique staff was friendly and abundantly helpful. Went to several boutiques in the first days of April to check for some concert outfits among other things. First went to the counter to check two large camera bags. I was glad that she said we could keep them on since I don't trust either of the bags with each including an excess of $4k of equipment to be left anywhere. Started perusing the store and found some note worthy items. She offered to start a dressing room and put some of the items in the rear for my companion to try when she was ready. She was observant and helpful without being too intrusive. She made suggestions based on they things we liked and somehow suggested crop tops which my companion has an affinity for. My companion tried on some items and the attendant brought another item back to her for her to try which interestingly enough was probably the item she liked the most (Army fatigue joggers with a plush interior). Nothing really wowed her though so everything went back to the racks but the service was superior. I'll likely be returning to pickup the joggers and a particularly brilliant red to black gradient high-low dress that my companion didn't try on nor did I suggest but I liked it for her so...
James, Please pass this along to Alyssa. Thanks so much. Greetings Alyssa, The wallet you purchased was a rare vintage find as we discussed. We are happy to personally show you around Sugarcube so you're more comfortable comparing contemporary and vintage offerings within different price points. And if you like, we can go over our posted return/exchange policy again with more examples. As we mentioned during your brief visits over the past year or so we sincerely sympathize with you but unfortunately old receipts cannot be honored. Best of luck with Wingate Studio. You both are always welcome. http://www.google.com/+AlyssaRobb

Anyone thinking of buying something from this store should be wary of being taken advantage of. I bought a vintage wallet here for $50 and as soon as I walked out of the store I noticed that there was water damage on the back. I walked back in and tried to return it, but the woman wouldn't let me at first. Then she told me the best she could do was give me store credit, even though there was no indication in the store--sign or otherwise--proving that this was their store policy. I've gone in several times since to try to redeem my $50 credit, but haven't been able to find anything I like or that I can afford (everything is overpriced). I finally just went back to explain the situation and ask if I could just get my money back, and this time a man (he said he was the owner) just told me he couldn't help me, and since it had been more than 6 months I couldn't even get my store credit anymore. I tried to reason with him and he responded by verbally threatening me, at which point I just walked out of the store accepting that this was a situation not worth getting more upset over. I just wanted my money back for a damaged wallet--this doesn't seem unreasonable to me.
