Buying used bikes, great. Buying used parts, also great! Basic repair, great. Complicated repairs and tune ups...not so good. They're very nice but some of the less experienced mechanics miss things, important things. I dropped off a used bike I got off the internet for a safety check and tune up. Long story short, I came back twice because I kept finding things that were -seriously- wrong. After the third time they declared the bike done, I came by and it still wasn't. I did not have the heart or the patience to have them work on it a third time. So I just paid the bill and considered it a charitable donation.
Took a used bike here for a tune up ($140) and a bunch of things werent great (including losing my tires and charging me for a new pair - I did get a refund in the end but that was really frustrating) BUT the thing that is leading me to write this review is the fact that they missed how bent the front fork was AND that there was a pretty significant crack in the stem upon further inspection since the fork was so bent. The headset was also really loose and I didnt know enough to know how much better the handling could be if that was tighter. And the chain they put on is the was the wrong size - its manageable, but the shifting could be better and Ive been advised to replace it. Luckily I took the bike to another shop after I had trouble putting the front wheel back on after transporting it and the other shop help me replace parts and make it safe to ride. I think theres some wonderful people that work here, but they are so busy and overwhelmed they cant provide a level of service thats both a good customer experience AND also safe.
Just got a great deal on a recycled bike from here. Way better than brand new with all new bearings/gears. Its lightweight and is a smooth quiet ride! Dont get a new bike, it will only be stolen. New bikes are for fancy people. The rest of us should recycle bikes. If youre shopping here you may need to check back in from time to time to see what theyve made recently but I would also bet theyd custom build something for you if you wanted to search out a frame/bars/seat of your own. Theyre nice guys and they do solid work.
Bought a bike and the chain broke halfway home. Had to walk the bike all the way back. Store opening hours say open 9am Sunday including a flyer on the store front. Arrived at 9am on the dot to pick up my bike that was never meant to be broken. Three people have been standing outside for 35 MINUTES and counting. Huge waste of time for paying $500 for a used bike that broke on me and having to schlep early on a Sunday and no idea whether I'll have to leave and come back for the third time.
