You can tell the employees are trying their best, but are just totally flooded by the amounts of product in the store. High prices, which are to be expected in this type of store, are hard to justify when two copies of the same product do not function correctly. After a third trip to the store to return that toy (a silver trumpet), we bought another item, an attachment to a bicycle that is recommended for ages 4 and up and was difficult for even me to operate. Store is also crammed to the brim with stuff, including unopened packages of backstock along the entire back of the store. Keep trying, but for now, I'll shop elsewhere.
I am a college student at USC. I wanted to support a small business toy store in Columbia, so I walked in to Be Beep with about $100 to spend for my little brother- maybe more if I had had a better experience. The owner, Ava, approached me (many times) as if I was a bother to be in her store. I over heard her telling one of her workers that she didnt understand why I was in there, and sent a worker to investigate me. I was asked what I was there for- totally normal!- i told them I was shopping for a 6 year old and Ava immediately snatched something from my hands and told me that was not in my budget, not knowing she could have potentially gained $100+ from me. She then sent one of her employees to essentially get me out as if I was just taking up space. I wish I had had a better experience here because I think its important to support small businesses. Unfortunately I will not be returning to Be Beep because of how she immediately judges and degrades her customers. She also does not wear a mask and gets very close with you, and if she does have a mask on its on her chin.
I call and ask if they have a specific toy. Oh, yes, we have one left would you like us to hold it for you. Yes please, Ill be there in ten minutes. Eight minutes later I arrive, and its gone. Help me explain that to a six year old.
