Dear Sydnie, This morning I was reading my reviews and was very saddened to read yours. It's the only review I've ever received that is not 5-Star. I do my very best to realize the dream dress for my clients' spécial occasions and to offer my expert opinion on what is appropriate and flattering for each individual woman and the occasion they are dressing for. However, ultimately it is about what the client décidés she wants. My recommendation that you have the dress made in two pieces was to provide you better value. I had explained that for a minimal expensé if you had a short skirt made of the same material you could pair it with other top and wear it often. Making the dress in two pieces is actually more work for which I did not charge as I wanted you to get good value from the versatility. It was my error for not providing a way of attaching the two pieces to avoid slippage. I want my customers to be completely satisfied and I am so sorry that you had issues with your gown. I cannot change that but would very much like to make any repairs and adjustments necessary to your two-piece ball gown. And, if you would like to have a short skirt made I would be happy to do that as a courtesy in compensation for your frustrations on your prom night.

Michaell was impressive to me at first. But the more I think back, as a designer I do think she was very concerned about what my dress said about her image rather than making my vision come alive. I will say the dress looked great, but as you can hopefully see in the photo, the slit I asked for and wanted so badly in the dress was something that Michaell wasn't a fan of, and I had to compromise. She brought the slit less open than what I wanted, messy (there were strings sticking out that I hadnt realized until the day I put on the dress for prom) and my entire prom I had to keep flipping it open to show it off. Michaell knew the dress was a lot of money for my family and that this was a gift from my mother to me, and despite that the stiching on the top part of my dress was done so poorly that the off-shoulder cross straps broke before I even started dancing. She also insisted that she make the dress two piece. She said no one would notice and it made it easier to put on and for her to make the dress, but the skirt of my dress was sliding the whole night. It was quite frustrating because I had been looking forward to prom and I wasn't able to enjoy it. The whole experience made me feel like I was putting the designer's wishes before my own, and yes I know the picture doesn't seem half bad. Keep in mind I had previously pulled up my skirt, my top hadn't broken yet, and I was forcably trying to show off the slit that I paid for. I feel bad for mother and Im just dissapointed. I included a picture of what I had showed Micheall my inspiration was. She added her own touch to the design which I appreciated, and lowered the number of pleats to make the dress less puffy, but the slit was the statement piece I really missed out on.

Michaell helped with my sisters maid of honor dress. We went for alterations and left with a gorgeous new creation! Michaell is very creative and came up with a genius idea to add delicate lace to the bottom of a silk dress. She was easy to communicate with (via text) and was able to accommodate our busy schedule (early morning or late night appointments). If you need a dress to impress, go see Michaell!

I went to Michaell wanting to feel like Ginger Rogers in Swing Time on my wedding day and the dress she designed and made for me made it happen. I was quite nervous to have a custom dress made, but the time and care she took to understand what I was looking for and the clear pride she takes in her work put my mind at ease. She took the time to research styles from the 1930s and came up with three beautiful designs for me to choose from and even modified the one I chose after we discussed the design some more. The result was a dress that truly reflected me and made me feel amazing. There were even several people who said our first dance was reminiscent of Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers!

Michaell is the best dressmaker Ive found in New York! Ive been working with her for over a year now, and I havent found a job she cant handle. Not only is she professional and responsive to all my communication, but shes also a creative artist who works with you to make sure your desires are met and then some! Her work is the highest quality, and she finishes jobs within the timeframe specified.
