I ordered 2 pairs of sandals from Amanu studio online. The first pair, shown in the photo, should have never passed quality control. I talked to them, over FactTime and wrote a note, about this issue, and they were going to adjust the sandals, for a better fit, and replace the damaged sole. I sent the shoes back, they were adjusted but they adjusted the damaged shoe and never replaced it. So, they sent me a damaged shoe twice. On the second pair of shoes I told them, over FaceTime and in a note, that the right shoe fit great, but the left shoe was loose. I asked them to adjust the left shoe to the same measurements as the right. We were going to achieve this by lasting the shoes to ensure the Left and Right were equal. Well, they adjusted the right shoe tighter and didn't touch the left shoe. For a company that talks about quality, customer service, and craftsmanship so much I expected better attention to details. Both shoes had to be returned.

This is the most fun I've ever had shopping. In recent years, I've shopped nearly exclusively online, but when I saw a writeup on the studio on Forbes, I had to stop by. The process is amazing: when you arrive, you select one of 10 styles, choose a sole color, and then pick from a full wall of different materials (leathers, suede, feathers, etc.) and colors to customize your sandal design. But that's not even the best part: a shoemaker measures the straps on your foot, and then builds a made-to-measure sandal while you wait. I couldn't pick and got three pairs made (in an hour!). I'm going back next month for my friend's bachelorette party and the shop manager was so great, she offered to let our group book up the space (and included complimentary champagne). Retail isn't dead!

What a beautiful place and such a fun experience! I brought my wife here as her birthday gift and we both enjoyed designing her sandal from scratch. Sadly they did not have size 13 soles, so I did not come out with my own pair, but seeing my wife build her own shoe was very cool! The whole process occurs in front of you which is so unique from other brick and mortar shoe stores. Tip: book your appointment online! the appointments slots go fast.

I had some amazing finds here and I will definitely be back. The staff was super friendly, the shoes were awesome, my biggest problem here is what shoe to buy first! I think I found my new shoe heaven.
