I don't really like giving bad reviews, but this one is well earned. I wish you could give negative stars, it was that bad. My six year old son and I had simple enough haircuts that has been executed flawlessly over many years over many different barber shops. I will say this is hands down the very worst haircut I have ever even heard of. My hair and my sons hair were equally murdered. My son was crying his haircut was so bad. I had to immediately go to Lorton Valley Barber Shop to have our hair fixed. When I walked in to LVBS, they laughed at our haircuts and asked "Where in the world did you get your haircut?" I wish I had taken pictures before it was fixed, everyone would have gotten a good laugh. To add insult to injury, I watched one of the employees lie to a customer. When I walked in she was finishing up a mans haircut. While I was getting my haircut another gentlemen walked in. The response was she could not cut his hair because she only cut women's hair. A few minutes later the original man came back to give her a cash tip. In front of all of us she thanked him, offered her business card, and appointments. I am sure the man that a few minutes prior told she did not cuts mens hair was like "What is that?" I, having witnessed her cutting the mans hair knew it was a lie from the get go and was curious what was to be gained from such a lie. Very unprofessional to do this in front of customers. It ended up costing me $76 in total for my son and I. Half of that was to fix what D Hair Salon & Barber did to us. Be wary!
Everything about my experience here was unprofessional. The stylist was friendly, but that does not make up for anything else. First of all, my stylist was late to my 11am appointment despite the fact that they open at 9. While waiting for her to arrive, I watched one of the workers paint the interior wall during business hours while another person washed her own hair in the back of the salon. There was no consultation when my stylist rushed in. I was waved to a chair as she told me to pull up my reference picture and immediately began bleaching my hair for highlights. The only pseudo consultation I had was being given a sample book of hair colors and told to choose one. I came in wanting a balayage with an ombre. My stylist did foil highlights. She insisted she was doing a balayage (she wasnt- there is no foil involved in a balayage). I told her I wanted the ends of my hair the same color. She told me that the picture I showed her was misleading. She finally relented and said she would do a combination of the balayage and an ombre for an extra $10 (because she felt -bad- about charging me more). This could have been avoided if there had been a real consultation before she put bleach in my hair. She left clumps of hair out of the bleaching and dying process. When I asked about it, she insisted that natural pieces thrown into the ombre would look beautiful. I wanted an ash brown that naturally blended in and complimented my dark hair. My stylist insisted that the picture I showed her had lighter hair than the one I wanted, so she kept steering me toward blonder colors. While she was dying my hair, she told me that the color she was using takes at least 30 minutes to reach its full potency. She also told me that she was only going to leave it in for 10-15 minutes on me because she was apprehensive that such a subtle ombre wouldnt show. Even after I requested it be left on longer, she hurried me to the back to wash out the dye so that her hard work wouldnt be for nothing. She told me that this type of hairstyle usually takes 4-5 hours at other salons and was proud to have done it in just about 2 hours. She said it like she was doing me a favor (and, in the moment, I believed her). I was super apprehensive, but the final look after she curled my hair was, deceivingly, nice. Under the dim salon lighting and behind the styling, I honestly couldnt tell how horrible it was. I paid with no issues and even asked for her business card. The next day, I took a shower and finally saw the natural texture of my hair in different lighting. It is beyond sloppy. The highlights have been over bleached, the color is completely different than from what I wanted, everything is uneven, and my hair is completely fried. Its not even an ombre, she just dyed more than half of my hair a different color. I paid almost $160 including the tip for it and that was WITH my first time 40% off. I could have been charged more. The business card is the only reason I know that this stylist is the OWNER of the salon. Dao Lee. This is not a faulty worker, this is the person managing the salon who claims to have 10+ years of experience on her website. Do not trust this salon or her with your hair.

Don't let the salon in the name fool you. It's a barber shop.
