This disaster of a newspaper is a complete waste of paper and ink. More than half of the content is advertisements, some taking entire pages and entire sections. The "journalism" is copied and pasted from liberal wire sources like "Associated Press" which include extremely liberal-leaning opinion articles, some of which aren't even cited as having been written by any known author. Of the "journalism" in this shilly paper, only about 20% (TWENTY PERCENT) is original writing about local topics. If all of the external content was deleted, the paper might not fill one page front and back. Sometimes one can't make it through the cover page without seeing liberal "by Associated Press" headlines jumping from the page. The rest is hateful, divisive drivel that isn't sure who its audience is. Some comes from random, unknown wire sources and is meant to fill space that no one wanted for advertising. The writing style in many stories is incorrect and problematic. Many "news" stories begin with questions or strange life anecdotes which seem to minimize any important facts that might be present. The paper is rife with grammar and spelling errors. In each issue, one can find a mistake in about twenty seconds. Many editions contain numerous, glaring mistakes. One of the worst errors was when incompetent staff left one article's subheading as "SUBSUBSUBSUB." This antiquated newspaper happily includes articles written by political candidates and even flagrant PR articles written by various companies. One thing the fake "news"paper WON'T publish (in addition to actual news) is content that insults or harms the reputation of its advertisers. Community members aren't allowed to go against controversial companies no one in the community likes, such as XTO Energy, with its laughable "environmental steward" advertisements. XTO Energy is one of many companies responsible for the environmental degradation of the county. Multiple lawsuits have been filed against the shady business. The Butler Eagle is proud to feature XTO's hypocritical advertisements in frequent editions of the newspaper, plus on every page of its annual calendar. Obviously, the Wise family is happy to accept some extra cash wherever it can. Horses don't pay for themselves. Negative, accusatory content that libels businesses and people in the community are only allowed to be published by the staff. This yellow journalism nightmare is not liked by the community. Most people who ever did receive this propaganda piece have since taken down their paper boxes and unsubscribed. Who would want to pay money to look at ads? Less than 1 in 10 people in Butler County receive this newspaper (about 1 in 20 in rural areas), showing how much the community values it. Few people in rural Butler County would agree with the stances pedaled in this publication. If one wanted to be brainwashed by the same five stories over and over (Trump is awful and corrupt, Russia Russia, opioid epidemic, global warming is real, guns are dangerous, etc.) one could simply flick on CNN or any other fake news outlet.
