The other day I called the art department hoping to receive some information regarding how to drop a class on line. The gentleman I spoke with ( I think his name was Jesse), must have had an off day. I can't recall the last time I was spoken to with so much contempt and impatience. Perhaps is time to have a staff meeting to see if people actually enjoy working there? I was very turned off by the whole experience. BTW, I just graduated from the U of O, so I am familiar with how to navigate the university system . I feel, LCC, needs to improve their interface and make it more user friendly...Otherwise, I like the instructors...
First let me say that most of the staff at LCC is amazing. They are super kind, caring, inspirational and knowledgeable. Other than that, this is a pretty terrible community college. I think the graduation rate will tell you everything you need to know. I'm getting my transfer degree finally and will be leaving this awful place. The biggest problem with the school is the upper management. There are rumors of financial corruption and just blatant bad decision making. I'm assuming this is why there has been a wave of new administration throughout the past decade. From what I've heard from student's, and even other staff, the Financial Aid department is severely mismanaged. They seem to be understaffed and the few staff they have are not adequately trained. The people that manage the FA office are actually hiring students to review and control other students FA progress. These are students handling and managing the financial future of hundreds, maybe thousands, of other students. This college makes most of it's money from FAFSA students, yet they seem to be getting the worst experience. Also, from my personal experience I have had several terrible encounters with the campus security. All of these encounters were me simply walking through the parking lot and getting harassed. I saw one security guard speeding to about 45 mph through the busy parking lot to pull someone over that I assume had expired tags or wasn't wearing a seat-belt. I will actually be filing a complaint about them, because they are making the parking lots unsafe. The only reason this review got two stars is because the professors/teachers are mostly awesome and amazing people. Unfortunately, I would never recommend this school to anyone because of the terrible management across nearly every division of the school.
I absolutely love this college. After taking a 2 year break, I started at LCC this January to get a transfer degree to U of O. They have amazing professors, and counselors who really advocate for you. Ive had the best science teacher of my life at this school and they really care about you and your success. They also are perfect to get a transfer degree to U of O. They will walk you through everything and tell you what classes to take that the university will accept. It is a relief to know all the credits Im taking can be transferred. Really great place to get your life on track!!!
Hi Tillie, I'm sorry to hear you felt fees were snuck in. We try to be as clear with fees as possible, and list them and how they're used at https://www.lanecc.edu/esfs/credit-fees-and-expenses. While financial aid can be complicated, we should never be rude or unhelpful, and I'd appreciate hearing more about your experience at [email protected]

Horrible experience. Currently taking online classes and they will charge you extra fees even though that is the only option. They sneak in plenty of fees that especially arent going to anything to help my education. I was also charged a late fee even though they had not given my my financial aid yet. When I reached out for help by financial aid they were unhelpful and rude. DO NOT WAIST YOUR MONEY HERE.
