Dear Patty, We sincerely regret that you are so unhappy with the outcome after the assessment of the bag you left at our store. Concerning communication; we had called you daily but you didn't answer and your voicemail was full from the day you left the bag at the store. We had no email or address for you, and when we tried to dig to find out the origin of the sale of this item to see if your contact was in the system, the name did not match yours and no email was found. (You also mentioned you had purchased the bag a year ago to the store associate so took us a while to locate the sale, it was in fact 3 years ago). At this point we thought we were not likely to reach you. We kept trying and weeks later were finally able to connect. As my colleague mentioned, our warranty is for one year from date of purchase, for manufacturing defects but this item was purchased 3 years ago. It would have been important to return it to us at the time you had mentioned it had broken. (You mentioned it broke after 3 months in when you were in the store speaking to Sarah, 1 year in your Yelp Review and on the call to our employee Kim, and now 6 months in this review, so we a little confused as to the actual timeline). Our warranty is in line with other handbag companies, much larger than ours, such as Kate Spade. It unfortunately for us and many other brands, not commercially viable to service product beyond a reasonable usage period. I hope you can understand people wear and tear their products in different degrees. It did appear that the bag was well loved due to the amount of holes and pen marks, stains etc on the exterior and interior. We do hope you can sympathize, just like a pair of shoes that needs a visit to a cobbler or beloved sweater to the cleaners to have some moth holes darned, a bag will in time wear out, or be in need of a repair. We unfortunately just are not set up to do this type of restoration currently. I know you wrote you think it is not hard to fix a strap but you returned it to us without one - we just do not have spare handles to apply. However as mentioned, we do have a fabulous contact who breathes new life in to worn out bags that we are happy to put you in touch with. Once again we do apologize we were unable to satisfy your request. Best, Amy

Bought a bag from here awhile back at the store in Red Hook. The leather handle on the bag broke after 6 months. I finally got around to bringing it into the shop expecting they would happily repair it however the women behind the counter told me I may have to pay for the repair and then never called me back about it. Most small companies guarentee their work and will repair damaged goods no questions asked. I was surprised to be met with indifference, I wouldnt shop here if you want a product that will last.
Kempton and Co. has beautifully made handbags that have a classic and luxurious feeling. On a recent visit to the store the shopkeeper was kind and helpful as I tried on several bags. After much deliberation I decided on the Harford and so happy I did - this crossbody style is lovely and so functional. Thank you Kempton!
I already own a bag from Kempton and Co and I recently purchased some of their summer pouches. they are great accessories for the summer and my friends love them. I am thinking to get the diaper bag for my sister, it looks like the perfect gift! everytime I go to the store the team is super nice and they always have new items...will come back for more !
My bestman's wife had just had a baby and we looking for the perfect gift, she is a runner and design enthusiast, so its not so easy to find a gift that gets used vs. getting put in the closet. Anyway, rewind to Kempton & Co, found them by having a nice neigborhood stroll and I happen to notice they are custom bag maker. Hmm seems interesting, stopped in, and we found the perfect little laptop/diaper bag combo. Anyway, its a great place to stop by if you are looking for that perfect gift.
