Positive Impact, run by Karen Ray (executive director) and KaraLynne (founder) for 16 yrs is the closest thing Ive encountered to exemplifying Jesuss heart and work with the less fortunate. Many talk the talk of lending a hand, they live it. Positive Impacts mission focuses specifically on the hungry in St. Petersburg where I grew up. I have been blessed to serve beside them as together we pop (trunk), drop (groceries), and drive (bike, grocery cart, auto, and on foot) hungry families supplying them with free, wholesome, fresh fruits, vegetables and meets each Saturday morning from 10-12 (at Tangerine Plaza, 1794 22nd St S, Saint Pete.) groceries of healthy food every week. Positive Impact facilitates volunteers like me who want to help out with the aim of providing programs that teach a man to fish so he can get back on his feet and feed himself for a lifetime. Many of the people Ive met seemed to be the elderly, and young Moms and dads affected by increased rent, gas prices, Covid or the loss of a job who just needed a little help to get past a pothole in their life. I encourage you to drop by one Saturday and jump in and volunteer.
This place is amazing. The people who attend here are so helpful to those who are "down on their luck". They provide food, spiritual help, and most importantly to some, like myself, they are their to listen to you. To pray with you. They genuinely care about you. I've been coming around now for roughly 8 months and I honestly don't know how I would have gotten through numerous crisis situations without their guidance. These people are a gift. I believe that.
So much love is demonstrated here. The other reveiwer was correct, we are a haven for the homeless. Haven meaning: "a place of safety and refuge." Too bad, he can't see that's a beautiful thing and something Christ expects from His church. All are welcome: poor and rich.
