Decent food but service was appalling. Went for an afternoon tea, we were one of only two parties in a big dining area so very little atmosphere. We were seated nicely, by a friendly waitress. Asked for tea, and they just brought a bog standard pot of PG tips type tea; no option or tea menu which I thought was very poor. There was a 5-10 minute wait from the first two teas being served and the third final one. The food was ok, especially the veggie sausage roll. But once we were served the waiting staff literally seemed to vanish and we were just left. They were all young girls who really needed to have an experienced manager running them as they really didn't show any kind of customer service. We literally had to knock on the kitchen door to ask to pay and it then took another ten minutes for us to be seen to, but not before the young lady stopped to pour herself a drink behind the bar. We asked to take the sandwiches and cakes we couldn't eat away with us, do she fetched a dirty take away tub and picked the items with her bare fingers off out plates! I am not a fussy person, but it was really frustrating feeling like we were being served by children who needed a grown up to show them how it's done. I'm sure that none of the waitress girls had any bad intentions whatsoever, channels just seems to need to improve its staff training, a lot.
We have booked our staff Christmas party there. The venue on its own it's beautiful. Unfortunately the dinner and service were not great at all. My roast turkey dinner was a big disappointment. The portion would be more suitable for a child than adult. The service was very slow. It took ages to get some vegetables. I am not sure how it's works there when you come just for a dinner but I definitely won't be returning there.
