A few years back Chimney Cricket redid the inside of our fireplace and were excellent. So, when it came time to replace our chimney cap, I called them. Big mistake! Our roof was also being replaced and they advised us to have the cap done first so workers weren't walking all over the new shingles. I had Chimney Cricket come out (after a no-show appointment), they asked if we wanted decorative or functional. My husband informed them we wanted stainless steel functional. They gave me an installation date, took a deposit of half the total, and I called to let the roofing company know so they could order the special equipment needed and schedule the job. Chimney Cricket did not show up on scheduled day, nor did anyone call me. After waiting long after our appointment time, I called them and was told they would not be coming because they didn't have the stainless steel in and couldn't make the cap. They gave me a new date and time, again no-show and no call from them. I called, got the same excuse and rescheduled again. Third time, same - no-show, no call, reschedule after I called, same excuses. At this point we discussed trying to get our deposit back, but were told by our roofing company that although the office and communications were not good, the ones who did the work were excellent. The roofing company called to say they had the special equipment, and to avoid more cost would have to go ahead and do the roof. Chimney Cricket finally showed up, only to tell my husband they had built a decorative cap, not a functional one. Back to waiting. When they finally showed up with the "correct" cap, they informed my husband they hadn't built the entire cap. I called and they said they had to order more stainless steel, so no date to finish yet. Chimney Cricket's first appointment with us was on October 7, 2021. They finally got the cap installed on January 3, 2022. We were home, but the worker still left with no notice, and without letting us know if there were any problems, or if the job was complete. Charisse, their "office worker" (and I use that term loosely) had said she would see about a discount when I complained about scheduling our time home only to have them not show up or call to say there was a problem. I understand if there is a problem getting materials in, but there is NO excuse for being so unprofessional or not caring about other people's time that you don't even inform them that no one will be at the scheduled appointment, or that it needs to be rescheduled! I received an e-mail bill for the full amount minus the deposit. When I inquired about the "discount," due to all of the problems on their part, she blamed the pandemic and said she's "juggling 15 schedules and sometimes people get missed." For a bill of $1850.00, she said the most discount she could give would be $25.00. I will NOT recommend or use Chimney Cricket again.
