I was a member for one year. Recently I combined households with my mother and we both were members of the garden. I contacted the Botanic Gardens 3 separate times once by phone and twice by email to inquire about a membership for my new household combination. I asked how my household of 3 adults and 1 child could get a membership that would serve us without having to buy multiple membership plus subscriptions that totaled close to $400. When I called, I couldn't get anyone on the phone and left a message. I got a call back but they did not understand my question. So instead of calling I figured I can email and clearly explain my situation. I never got a response before my membership expired. I then followed up on my email to say I never got a response and why would my household spend $378 for us to get memberships that allowed us all to go together or separately to the garden when they couldn't bother to email me back. It's disappointing that a place I've been attending since I was a child has such poor service and has upped the rates so much without consideration for multigenerational households or other households that don't fit the norm of 2 adults and children. It's not worth my money or time and maybe it's not worth yours.

We went for the Easter Brunch on 04/17/22. This was our first time attending this event. We got there exactly at our reservation time of 12 noon. The tone was set as we walked in as a party of 12 and were told we only had 45 min to eat. That in itself is ridiculous. Most reservations anywhere else give at least 90 min window to eat and enjoy yourself. And nothing was mentioned about a 45 min time frame when I made the reservations. We are a family of 12. It takes longer than 20 minutes for all of us to even get thru the buffet line and sit back down to eat together. Secondly, for what we paid for each ticket ($52 for adults and $36 per child) I expected better than paper plates and plastic utensils. It was cheap and looked it. I was embarrassed. Cash bar, which we were aware of. Breakfast food was cold (eggs) or hard (pancakes) or swimming in a pool of grease (bacon). Lunch food was decent but there were maybe 5 items to choose from? Dessert was what looked like Costco tarts and wrapped Easter candy thrown on a table. Oh, wait. They did have Peeps skewered on sticks!?!? So there was that. At least the bus people were on top of things so they had that going for them. I expected much more for the price point we were paying for this brunch. Needless to say, we will be going elsewhere next year.

It's a very beautiful place to visit in all seasons. And a must when you visit Chicago it is situated on a 45 min drive from downtown. It is well connected with public transport. Pictures shared are for the month of April when flowers are in full bloom..

Wow. Coming soon pay for parking then pay to get in. All the donations aren't cutting it? Had the price of sunshine and rain gone up? The food for the plants getting more expensive due to the war in Ukraine? Everything is so "for profit" it's insane. What's next are we going to have to pay for the air we breathe? God help us
