BY ZARS KITCHEN, FOOD BLOGGER/ RESTAURANT REVIEWER - AWFUL TABLE GIVEN - We had been looking forward to going to Wuns for so long and traveled from far to get there.. I had booked a table for 6pm last night to take my husband and 3 kids to celebrate my husbands birthday. Upon booking I made sure to tell the restaurant it was a special celebration, his birthday so please could they give us a nice table, I have this request confirmed in writing by the restaurant. When we arrived we were seated upstairs directly outside the kitchen, our table was made up of 3 very small (shaky) tables stuck together in a long rectangular shape and we were all sat in one long line on a bench opposed to sitting opposite each other across a table. This was the first time I had been to Wuns so I was unaware there was even a downstairs area. I looked around the restaurant which was absolutely packed for a Friday night and there were no other tables available. We felt we had no choice but to sit at this awkward table. We ordered almost everything on the menu (because I plan to blog about it on my Instagram page) and wanted to take pictures, however when the food arrived there was not enough room on the table to accommodate it all AND we could not even pass a dish from one end of the table to the other end (kids in the middle) between my husband and myself due to the awkwardness of the table. This resulted in a waitress having to help pass the plates from one to the other. The children complained they wanted to leave because they were uncomfortable and our rushed dining experience for my husbands birthday was completely ruined. Towards the end of the meal I asked where the loos were and was directed downstairs. When I walked into the downstairs dining area (which up to that point I didnt even know existed) I was shocked to find large spacious tables filled with diners in a lovely atmosphere. I then went back upstairs and explained to the host how disappointed we were that we were given such a ridiculously bad table which was obviously 3 tables of 2 put together in a line, he was not apologetic whatsoever and in fact was rude and argued with me to say we had not requested a downstairs table. Not once did anyone wish my husband a happy birthday or apologise for our terrible seating. On top of this we were given dirty looks as we left the restaurant. I will not be back to Wuns tea room (even though the food was quite decent) because of the total LACK OF DECENT SERVICE. Last night was a special occasion totally ruined!
Change in management is apparent. The old robust menus have now become decoration in this soulless bar which is just another London bar at this point. Used to be one of my absolute favourite places to go that was open late. Now I have no reason to ever revisit.
Great experience and so tasty the food, Never been desappointed and staffs always friendly helpful and ready to serve, the vegetarian choice is amazing, Mixed Mushroom, Chinese Celery, Yolk Butter Claypot Rice, so far if you are vegetarian is so far the best i ever had, me and a friend had a table upstairs when we went for the first time and i had no idea how great was downstairs Amazing place is so romantic too, really 5 stars and super high Recommended , The drinks and coquetel are simply divine, Oh Lord I am so looking forward to come back with my friends for another night out in Soho again and of course back to Wun's Tea Room & Bar
ENCHANTED VENUE, AMAZING STAFF!!! This week I visited this beautiful restaurant with couple of friends and I have been immediately surprised by the beautiful retrò and bright venue. The food is very tasty and the attention to the details seems a priority due to the high quality standards. Staff was very friendly and extremetely polite, the service offered is even better than expected. Definitely will be back there soon as I fell in love with one of their drinks containing Lychee.
I don't normally leave bad reviews but - Simply the worst amateur cook tiktok recipe food in here. Also Long version: Ordered char siu - extremely fatty and full of sugar with undercooked rice. Yeun Yeung - paid 5.60 for a cup milky tea mixed with coffee Kaya butter toast with spa egg - too much sugar and butter on 2 pieces of white toast with a impossible to eat spa egg - again undercooked. Deviled egg - paig 3 for HALF an egg with a salty mayo filling Also got offered still water for which I paid 4.80. Was the best part of the meal tho. Avoid.
