I went to The Food Market for a going away celebration and was very disappointed. We were seated promptly but our server did not acknowledge us for several minutes and when he did he didn't introduce himself. He took our order, which was extensive, by memory and messed up our appetizers as a result. Our meals were also extremely slow coming out from the kitchen. When they arrived pickles were added to my daughters burger when she specifically asked that they not be. Her asparagus had to be sent back because it was cold. My husband's steak was overcooked (ordered medium well) and was flavorless. He said it tasted like the grill, my other daughter said the same thing about her bronzini. I actually enjoyed my sandwich (The Baltimore Club) and crinkle fries but the complaints from everyone else could not be ignored. Probably won't be returning.
My sister and I took our mom and wives here for Mothers Day and did the Slay the Menu experience and I was very disappointed in some of the food. The experience was great because it was in a private area with our own bartender (Brandy), she was fantastic!!!! To reserve the room was $300 and the total check was $1,200 so when the mozzarella stick came burnt, the fried lobster was cold and they only sent 1 serving, they sent two different orders of tuna (tuna meatballs and seared tuna). We were told no lamb chops because there was only enough for the dining room, so we got fried chicken. The experience wouldve been better if we were given the option to choose the menu like we were given for the drinks. Dessert was lame (bread pudding and blonde brownies with bootleg banana pudding). I do not recommend anyone doing the Slay the Menu, because it felt like we were getting the scraps from the dining room.
This is a great place to eat in Maryland. My wife and I traveled there for our anniversary. Lots of unusual items to try on the menu. I had the jumbo mozzarella sticks and pulled pork Benedict.
Great, friendly service. Creative presentation, food was creatively made with an added touch. Deservedly higher priced. Great street to walk around the neighborhood, but hard to find a parking spot. All and all I would go back to try some other menu items.
It's a little bland, honestly. My wife, child, and I made reservations on a Saturday afternoon, the place was packed. As we walked in the hostess was on the phone and did not make eye contact. A server eventually walked to the front and took us to our seats. We're not sure if hi chairs and kids menus were available since we weren't even asked if we needed them. It took the waitress a long time to get to us because of the amount of people she was serving. The place seemed understaffed. She was nice and did a good job so no problem there. We ordered the Baltimore club and the short rib Benedict, both of them pretty much tasted like nothing, not to mention the Baltimore club cost $30 and was a small sandwich. The short rib had a strand of hair in it so we asked for it to be replaced, the egg in the replacement dish was overcooked and not poached properly. However, my wife's mocktail was fantastic. The quality did not stand up the the reputation of the restaurant, the prices did not reflect the value of the dishes.
