Thank you for your feedback. If library hours change, we'll be sure to post them both publicly and broadly. Library staff are happy to allow a time extension or an additional computer session if computers are available. The 60-minute time limit is temporary and will be revisited and likely extended soon. It would be great if we could allow users to split their computer time over multiple sessions, but the computer management system software that we use doesn't work like that.

It would be nice if the library would return to their pre-covid hours of operation of 9 am to 9 pm instead of 10 am to 8 pm that exists now. I also think public computer time should automatically be pushed to 90 minutes or longer, instead of only a hour. I don't like how if you only need a public computer for a few minutes and then you sign out, you can't sign back in the rest of the day and get the rest of the time. I don't think this should be. I think people should get at least a full hour of computer time, even if it's over two sessions.
Just a reminder that the closure through May 17 (yesterday) was a direct order from the Lawrence Douglas County Health Department. On a lighter note, service rollout will be slow and steady, with returns and walk-up holds pick up starting today (May 18), and on June 1, placing new holds, limited access to the building for holds pick up, self-checkout, hours of operation from 12-6 daily, and staff assistance with account questions begins. You can browse the collection online, pick up materials inside our out, return items, and catch many of our events online now. Opening up the library back up as a community gathering space will take time. There is a large volume of materials out (40,000+), 3-day quarantine for returns, safe handling procedures to learn and apply, social distancing and staffing safely, and finding the safest ways to keep a large building clean in this new normal. Safety for you and our staff is our main goal.

I don't respect that the library is not open by now. There's no excuse for this and there is no safety issue. There needs to be new library management.
Thanks so much for all the nice comments. We have a designated Quiet Spot now along the west wall on the first floor. Hopefully that will reduce the amount of noise so you can concentrate. Let us know how to make it better, too! We're always up for new ideas.

This library has all the media you could possibly want; all well stocked and maintained. It's beautiful and the artwork and windows make it comforting, not to mention the two fish tanks. There's a large focus on kids, which makes it fun for them to come and be among books. But there are also plenty of events and activities for adults and teens on their event page, like book and writing clubs, author visits, and workshops. There are also many computers, fast and free wifi, and help desks everywhere in case you're confused. Everyone is friendly and helpful. But if you're trying to get work done, the library is ironically not the best place. Even with noise blocking headphones, the sound of screaming children on whatever day or time of day you please is absolutely deafening. The chairs also aren't super comfortable, though they're good for around an hour, and there are always people vying for chairs and tables and outlets. The study rooms are glass walls, so don't expect them to save you from the noise.
Well they usually don't allow me to bring my support dog into the place so I don't know. Most places allow me to bring my support dog.
