First, when ordering online, there is nothing on any of the pages that say that the generator does not come ready to use. THESE GENERATORS ARE NOT READY TO USE. You have to do special electrical and misc things to get them functioning. We called generator sales/central maine diesel many times and they would not respond and never call us back. We finally got a hold of them and they said that is just the way the generators come They also do not deliver them properly. This generator was removed off the semi truck and damaged, and we had to personally pay for all the damage and buy the parts from them. After spending thousands of dollars getting the generator usable, we had about 1 month of use, and the generator died. We contacted them and it took them 1 month to get the generator. Once they received the generator, they have gone back and forth with us multiple times saying they dont know what the cause is, and they could not fix it. I still have not received the generator and its been 4+ months. I have no clue what they have done with it and they are not responding. Read all the reviews and complaints before moving forward with trying to buy a generator from this company.

This company is a scam, DO NOT BUY.... I bought a generator last winter from this company, they talked to me, took my money, everything seemed great, until after the install, my electrician then informed me that the after market electronic start that was built by Central Maine Diesel was not wired correctly and wouldn't work until it was rewired properly. 4 months later and no return of my phone calls, no return of my dozen or so emails. I finally got a hold of a "sister company" called Central Maine Diesel Power Systems. I talked to them and after paying for a diesel mechanic to take the box off the generator, paid for shipping to the CMD power systems, they fixed the problem and charged me $300+. this diesel had no hours on it. Now the starter motor isnt working properly. And I know there is no way Im getting in touch with anyone at CMD. I ended up purchasing a new generator from PDGenerators and hopefully I get what I paid for. This company should be bankrupt and I am sure that there are many more out there with this same problem, at least the lack of customer service or any service at all. I would give a negative number if possible. And BTW I have only ever written a negative one other time.

Just received my NG/Propane 15,000 watt Honda Generator from Central Maine Diesel and couldn't be more pleased. The people from C M D were very helpful, polite, and answered all of my questions. Although this generator is a no frills generator meant to be plugged directly into an electrical panel box, it can be adapted, using special plugs, to produce separate 120 or 220 volt outlets. Having used equipment using Honda engines for over forty years made this setup using a Honda engine and a high quality MECC ALTE ALTERNATOR a no brainer. The only problem I had starting on natural gas was that it is necessary to prime the engine before trying to start, but having experience wit other N G engines, I made sure to do this and it started and ran flawlessly. When I places my order I was told that it would take three to four weeks to receive it, but was very surprised when after two weeks, I was notified that it had been shipped. I don't recall in all of my fifty years of receiving freight shipments receiving a shipment that was so securely packaged. All in all this is a high quality generator coming from a reputable company that I would definitely do business with in the future.

I purchased a Perkins Powered 15kw Diesel Generator from Central Maine December 2010 as I built a new house in northeastern Ohio. I maintain 170 gallons of fuel and the generator is in the 4 car garage with two inch pipe for exaust that goes through the floor and outside to a muffler. The generator provides enough power for my complete house during a power outage. The Perkins unit is reliable and quite.
