Not a great experience from the start. I have enquired for a beautiful property to let, BB&J had on the market which was 1 bed flat in York Street, Derby. I have been told that the current tenants are doing the viewings so I will have to wait for the agency to get back to me with availability. Finally after more than a week they have booked a viewing with me. On the day of the viewing I had a call form then saying that they have had a 'problem with the system' and instead of original 475 rent amount, now it's 500 pcm. Which is unacceptable to change the price especially to a bigger one after viewings were already booked. The agency should have taken the responsibility for this mistake and cover the costs not ask people if 'they're still happy to view'. Although I have accepted as I was extremely interested in taking the property as soon as it's available. Even though the experience with the agency has deteriorated my interest and excitement about the property. When I arrived at my viewing it turned out one of the agent is conducting it, since I waited for the tenant's availability to conduct the viewing, it was strange how an agent ended up doing it anyway. The gentleman's name was Steve Gilligan. He let me in, I had a look around and asked few questions. I asked about what happened with the price since it has gone up, he said he is not aware and that I should speak to the lettings team on the phone as he is just helping them out on this day which is quite strange since on their website it does say he is the accompanied viewer which deducts that he would be more informed than this. When mention that in fact it is quite strange to change the price he just said that the prices only go up, they never go down, which is very incorrect and it's not how letting a house works at all. I am a letting agent myself and know that this is quite unacceptable attitude to have. The gentleman made me feel like he wants me to leave as soon as possible. I was not able to apply for the property at the viewing and to be honest I did not wanted to after all of this, which was a pitty as I did like the property itself and the location. I feel like this experience was quite dishonest and attitude like this gives letting agents a bad name.
Not a good agency. Slow to no response at all from issues. They book appointments they don't keep and don't tell you. They try every trick in the book to try and take as much of your deposit from you as they think they can get away with and then have the nerve to plead ignorance after. Professional cowboys. You have been warned.
Speaking from my experience, they offered very good services in terms of property management and whatever I required. I am a current tenant and I am very pleased with their services. *Edit after more than a year with them: What I can say is that whenever I had a problem they were very responsive, usually getting it fixed in a couple of days. Even when they had to replace the old oven in my flat with a new one it took them only three days. I am very pleased with their services. Coming from previous experiences with bad agencies that only cared about the landlord and taking my money I can say that BBJ is interested in providing top quality services for both parties.

We recently sold our house with Boxall, Brown and Jones. We found everyone we dealt with to be very professional and responsive (particularly Dawn and Anthony). We had excellent service thought the process and would thoroughly recommend them to anyone else.
Dear Karolina, I am so sorry that you have been disappointed with the service you have received from Boxall Brown and Jones. I thought it would be helpful if we explained to you the circumstances relating to you being unable to view the property that you are interested in. As this property was not presented in accordance with the high standards that we expect from tenants within our properties, we did not undertake any viewings of the house during the last few days of the tenancy. After entering the property, upon completion of the last tenancy, we were not at all happy with the way in which the property had been left and consequently decided not to show anyone around the premises until a full programme of modernisation and improvement had been completed. I can absolutely assure you that this property is not currently being marketed and it will not be until such works have been undertaken. I can reassure you that nobody has either viewed the property or rented it from us. As we have explained to you over the telephone, once the property is in a lettable condition you will be invited to visit along with anybody else that may be interested. We would always ask any viewers to check the possibility of viewing a property before spending any money on travel arrangements. If you had spoken to us, before booking your train tickets, we would have informed you of the situation I have highlighted above. Boxall Brown and Jones take great pride in offering the very best standard of service to our customers and it is only because of this, that we are keeping this property off the market until it conforms with our high letting standards. Please do not hesitate to contact me directly if you require any further information. Angela Delaney Lettings Manager

Really disappointed with this agency. First of all I don't understand why you wouldn't be able to view a property while tenants still living there as my current flat has been viewed by dozens of possible tenants. Secondly when it came and then called to arranging a viewing of house I was really hoping to get (even wanted to pay deposit for it without viewing) I was told that the tenants are leaving the flat on 19th so viewings will begin on 20th. Being unable to confirm that I can come on 20th since I live in a different city I called 2 days later and your employee said that she can't make the booking and she will let me know when she can. So today is the 20th I have spent 70 on train tickets only to find out the house is no longer on the market !!! So I don't know if maybe one of the employees or their friends took it ?! Absolutely unprofessional and misleading.
