Thank for your review Kevin. We appreciate honest feedback. We do pride ourselves in our craftsmanship and as we discussed on the phone, there was clearly an issue. Specifically, as you mentioned there was a vinyl gun malfunction. Under normal circumstances, we would have fixed your issue immediately but, as we discussed, your vinyl was a special order and difficult to find in stock due to COVID 19. We spoke again via email on the 18th. Instead of waiting for your order to be delivered to Hampton Roads (which could have been weeks) we literally drove over 200 miles to 3 different suppliers to find a couple pieces at a time. We installed your vinyl that week. I understand your frustration but please understand, we work very hard on the back end to make sure our customers are satisfied. Clearly, we missed the mark here but if you have any issues whatsoever please reach out to us and it will be completely covered under warranty over the next 10 years.

I signed the contract to purchase a 9.5' x 12' shed in early December 2020. The shed was delivered on 1/6/2021 and the issues began. On the way to my home, the back side of vinyl had fallen off. They did ask me if I wanted to take delivery or they could take it back to their warehouse. I chose to take delivery because I was under the assumption they would return to install the siding the next week. I handed them a check which was cashed almost immediately. Being the customer who has an incomplete shed, I would think that they would have reached out to me to express their concerns or give me an update. I was mistaken, I had to call the following week requesting an update. Upon calling, the general manager, Travis, decided to give me an update and said that my case has never occurred in their history and that they have a great reputation. He informed me that the tool they used to staple the siding to the wood was not working correctly. This led to most of the siding being loose. He also mentioned that they were having trouble finding additional siding to complete the job. I had trouble understanding why I wasn't being proactively communicated to, especially by him, because he is managing their business. I received a call on 1/15/2021 to inform me that the siding had arrived and they could come install on 1/18/2021. Two of their associates arrived that day to re-do the existing siding since it was loose and to install the back siding which was missing. They finished 95% of their work and informed me that whoever cut the siding around the top of the door frame and top window frame, did it incorrectly and that someone would have to come back and complete the job. After inspection, I also noticed that these two associates, damaged a piece of siding on the left side of the shed (there was a noticeable hole in it). I emailed Travis, he responded by saying that a piece of siding was broken during the fix and they had run out. I don't understand how they purchased an amount that didn't include any possible breakage. I also sent him a picture of the damaged piece. He never responded to my email. I received a call on 1/20/2021 saying that they secured additional siding and that Freddie would be coming to fix it. Luckily, Freddie has 7 years of experience and did complete the job without breaking any additional pieces. Even though I emailed Travis to inform him of the damaged side from the two associates, he never bothered to tell anyone. Freddie was not aware of the hole but graciously fixed it when I showed it to him. Through this entire experience, my most pleasant encounter was with Erica Gajan, their sales consultant. She is incredibly friendly and extremely responsive to email and text messages. The troubles I encountered would simply have been avoided if someone did a quality check on the siding when it was initially installed at their warehouse. If they claim to hire the best craftsmen, then why wasn't that check done? If that check was done, the siding would not have flown off while being driven to my home. I also don't understand why Travis isn't responsive or doesn't proactively reach out to his customers when he knows there have been issues with their sheds. I shouldn't have to be the one reaching out for the mistakes that they have made. After Freddie finished fixing my shed, Travis sent an email which is a template saying thank you for the purchase and please post on social media. He didn't even bother to respond to my earlier emails but he was able to send that out. Through this entire debacle, I cannot wholeheartedly recommend using Colonial Barns & Sheds. The reputation that they speak of is not what I saw and I don't know if anything else was done incorrectly while building the shed. I sincerely hope they learn from my situation and that no one else has to experience this.

Still waiting for the shed, so maybe Colonial can redeem themselves, I will update as appropriate. Shed was scheduled for installation today but was told that it would be re-scheduled if it was raining. It was raining this morning so I assumed it was off, but as I sat down for breakfast they arrived. After looking at the site, they first asked if I could mow. Again it was raining, so I said not now. Then they noted that there was some dog poop and that I'd have to clean it up or they would charge a minimum of $100, an unexpected requirement, but I went in to get a bag to clean things up. When I returned, the leader said 'hey it's supposed to rain more, we're light next week so why don't we just reschedule.' I agreed and they left. The scheduler called back a bit later to say that they could do it tomorrow and not charge a 'return fee.' When we purchased the shed, I specifically asked if we needed to do anything to prep the site and was told that the crew took care of everything. And no one advised me that there would be a return fee. I don't begrudge them having a clean work site, but the requirement was not clearly communicated to me and there was absolutely no discussion of a return fee when I agreed with the crew leader to reschedule. All in all completely unprofessional. I still hope things work out, but at this point, I'm regretting my choice of Colonial Sheds & Barns. Update ... the shed is great. The team showed up ~7:30 (I'm an early riser so not a problem) and they finished before noon. Construction is solid and the team cleaned up everything. Based on the actual installation and the quality of the shed this would have been an easy 5-star review. But their failure to clarify the policy, and more importantly the virtual shakedown of suggesting a return fee might be required (even though the installer suggested re-scheduling) keeps this at a three.
