Went to A&M to buy crank bearings and was told I can't buy them because just replacing bearing without getting anything machined was a bad idea ... I was then talked into having my motor rebuild.. Ernie came to my house and picked up all my parts for the rebuild.. after a month I called to see if they started my motor yet and they haven't (which I was happy because I wanted to change some things ). I was then argued with about building my own motor and was told I don't need that much power .. after many months I called in November to see if the motor would be done soon and I was told is would be finished this week and then I was told the next week and that went on all month..so I decided to go take a look and engine was just a bare block on the floor.... we also agreed on a set price but Ernie decided the motor needed more work then what we talked about so he took it apon himself and approved more work to be done.. he also didnt like the gaskets I bought so he took that apon himself and replaced those .. so the price jumped up $600 without my permission .. after waiting a little longer I was "promised" the motor would be done before December .. the motor was finally finished dec.15 but I wasn't aloud to pick it up because I didn't want to pay the extra $600... now I'm not saying the work they did was bad ..my motor blew up 167 miles after due to a part failure but A&M has nothing to do with that
This tiny little machine shop operates like a transmission shop. if you come in for something minor, you are leaving with a transmission. this is one of those places that is all about the owner's ego and he goes to lengths to prove how unprofessional he is. the owner Ernie is not willing to abide by the customer's wishes while he claims that's exactly what he does. he tried to bait and switch me claiming he would polish my crankshaft, but then told me i needed a complete rebuild when it was clearly not necessary. i really didn't appreciate all the time i wasted finding out he's a liar. he specifically told me he does not contemplate what he finds during disassembly, he just does complete rebuilds on everything, no matter what it is. that tells me he doesn't really understand what he is doing and just hones cylinders and grinds valves to his heart's content. as far as i'm concerned, i wouldnt give this guy slant 6 to work on
Ernie is a liar and a cheat .came in to have a valve seat ground he ground the valve and then lied to my face saying he ground the seat and vacuum tested it .it still leaks and charged me 50 dollars to do what amounts to nothing .he quoted me 30 to 50 and then attempted to charge me 70 without even performing the job I asked him to do .you'd be better off going anywhere else .the Bert and Ernie show is just that a comedy...thanks again ernie....
