Took an engine block in and had it completely worked over. Just to have no specs on the block. Everything looking decent, but not overly thrilled, I decided to give the shop another chance and took some control arms in to have new bushing pressed in. when I got the control arms back the bushings were in but the arms were bent and they proceeded to tell me that they were like that before they received them. I wouldn't take a bolt there to be threaded nor would I refer anyone that wants machine work done correctly and honestly.
Had him Press a new Sleeve into A Polaris cylinder, he originally quoted me at $140. By the time i walked out he had raised the price to $193. And taken Way longer that they said, the quality of the work was decent but lousy customer service and the person at the front "forgot" that they needed another part to complete the job, so i had to drive back out twice to get the job done right, I have more machine work but will not be taking it to tom's, Takes To long, charges to much and has poor customer service. And the worst part was the person who i talked to on the phone and in their office was CLUELESS. No idea what she was talking about. Made my job a lot harder. Bottom Line: If you have a lot of money, time and patience Go to tom, If not STAY FAR Away.
The worst customer service. Just about the most worthless machine shop in the area. Front reception lady was extremely rude and arrogant acting like she knew what she was talking about but was clueless. Refused to perform a simple gasket surface resurfacing job on a 6 cylinder diesel manifold. Its a flat straight surface that any competent machine shop could do in literally 15 mins. It has to have a flat surface for it to fit in our belt sander. Lady, its a straight 6 Cummins manifold, its doesnt get any flatter.. Also refused to take on a simple mill job on a rocker pedestal that would take another 10 mins because our machinist is leaving on vacation in two days so we arent taking any work on. It would be at least 3-4 weeks. What the hell kind of business is this? Just wow. Give me 20 mins with the Bridgeport (if you even have one) and Ill do it myself and leave you a $50 bill for equipment rental. Ive had bad experiences from these guys in the past and thought Id give them another chance. My mistake. Stay far away and go elsewhere for machine work. This is coming from a die hard gearhead that knows and has performed the work personally but currently doesnt have the equipment.
