We are a small family shop and our prices are at recommended retail price and we offer 10% off all larger setup sales etc and do not overcharge. We cannot compete with online pet shops and the likes of Amazon as we have the larger overheads of rent,rates and staff as an independent trader. We also offer a free local delivery service. We offer after-sales service when people buy animals and fish from us and we help with all animal and fish setups. Hi Helen and thank you for taking the time to leave a review; however we do believe we have some differing points of view concerning the sale and purchase of this hamster. The member of staff who effected the sale is a highly qualified member of the team, trained to a high level at Animal College. The spot-on product that you are speaking of is designed for and perfectly suitable for hamsters and this is clearly evidenced in the information on and inside the box and we have all the details if you need to read them. We know the lady who was purchasing this hamster, to replace one she had recently lost, and she was perfectly happy with her purchase. We always put some bedding from where the hamster has been housed into a carrier for transport as this is routine procedure for selling any of the small animals. We have recently been granted a 5-star licence for our excellent level of animal husbandry and all of the cages that the animals are housed in are bespoke, made by environment providers within the industry with specific animals in mind and these ones are perfectly suitable for hamsters and do meet the required size for hamster housing and stocking density. We are always happy to discuss any problems that any customer has and we would welcome the opportunity to talk with you in person. We are passionate about responsible pet ownership and would not give such bad advice to a customer as has been suggested in your review. Called into the shop today for a nosey and was horrified by the lack of knowledge regarding hamsters. The cages on display do not meet the recommended size for a hamster and the shop assistant was drenching an about to be purchased hamster with parasite spot on. The box clearly states what animals it is suitable for and none of them were hamsters. It also clearly stated that it should not be used on animals under 300g. The hamster was certainly nowhere near that weight. The lady purchasing the hamster asked the shop assistant to put some of it's bedding in the carrier as is normal to help a hamster transfer from one home to another. The shop assistant said that she'd put some new bedding in. Luckily the purchaser knew that this was wrong and insisted. All very sad!
