Hello Arnold, James Byron Jr here at Patterson Auto Body. The initial estimate was written in the rain, and we were unable to see the other damage to the car at that time. When it came in for the taillight replacement, we reviewed the car and had wished to review the car with the owner, but we missed each other at time of pick up. When she came back in for the estimate, I had told her, this would be the standard repair process and normal billing but if we could find a way to do the repairs more cost effectively, we would. As the payer of the damage to the car and not the owner I do apologize that it wasnt written better in the rain. If there is anything you would like to review about the estimate, please come in and do so.

Long story short... estimate of $250 turned out to be a revised estimate of $2000!!! Really. Plus they agreed to call before they went ahead but did not. Admitted it was their mix up but refused to take any money off. Never again. I read your reply to my review and find it wanting. Pretty poor in my mind... "it was the rains fault." The car was finished at Stan's Auto body for $466. Your estimate to finish the job was many times higher. I stand by my review.

I scratched 2 panels on the side of my car. I brought it in for a quote and they said both panels had to be completely repainted for $1800. I asked them if one panel could be buffed out and the other spot touched, they said no. I took it to another auto body shop 5 minutes up the road and they said yes it can be buffed and spot touched for $500. I had them do it for $500 and it looks as good as new (they even cleaned & detailed the car too). While I'm sure Patterson auto body does a good job, it's very much worth getting a second estimate elsewhere...

Please be advised we conduct business as a NY State inspection center and we enforce all policies. Its unfortunate your experience at our shop led you to the conclusion that we treated you unfairly, we take accusations of that magnitude very seriously. When a vehicle does not pass NYS inspection regulations our job is to notify the owner to let you know what has to be fixed on your vehicle for it to pass the inspection. Whether a vehicle passes or fails inspection, there is a $21 NYS fee. We would be glad to further this discussion on the phone or in person if you like.

I went there for an inspection to be done to my vehicle to end up failing for things that were very small. Things that could have been told to me but instead they decide to put in the system purposely. Not to mention me being charged for the inspection even though I failed which I have never had to do before so I found that pretty odd. A friend of mine who went there for years told me that has never happened to him at all and hes had things that could have been reported but was never checked. He and I came up with the same solution. They did this because of my race and they will never have to see me again because I will never do business with a place that promotes bigotry.
